the japanese snes games are cheaper too arent they? are they in english though?

our snes looks ugly but it's what i grew up with

- daeth

Yes they're noticeably cheaper (for the most part).

They don't have english dialogues. Most of them have english on-screen menus though. Super Metroid has english text.

Action games don't have dialogues so... those you can play without a problem.

Also a US SNES can play japanese carts without any converter, you just have to remove 2 little plastic spacers that are at the bottom of the cart slot.

Happy importing!

the nes games i beat before even owning an snes were light years ahead of a link to the past in difficulty. snes games in general were so much easier. the only "difficult" part about a link to the past was figuring out where to go but that was more time consuming than it was difficult.

my mini snes will have to do. good enough for me. i think it'll be moddable too like the nes mini was. no chrono trigger or killer instinct needs to be fixed. also the lack of turtles in time is disturbing.

the puzzles are pretty logical and the layouts aren't as maze-like as some of the dungeons in the later 3D games. in a link to the past they're just difficult enough to feel like you're smart for figuring them out but easy enough that you don't really get stuck. well designed.

the SNES mini is quick and easy for sure(provided you can get your hands on one. I'm saying this because the NES mini was in such short (frank)ing supply, it was unbefuk. Many people who pre-ordered it didn't get one). Although it is nothing more than an ARM core with an emulator on it, and has a bit of a noisy output. A Raspberry Pi with emulators on it should work just as well, heck, even better, and allow you to put a bunch of different emulators on it to booth.

But with the SNES mini you won't have to configure anything nor download anything, so it is extremely convenient.

I already have a small PC hooked up to my TV for all my media stuff and Steam streaming since my main PC is in another room. Technically it'd probably actually be superior for playing these games since I'm sure there are some pretty accurate SNES emulators for PC out there. I just want the SNES mini because it's "official" I guess. I'll probably play it 3 times.

edit: I already have one pre-ordered so I'm guaranteed to get one so supply isn't an issue
