I agree. Just like the notion of having guys that are respected (bossy nystrom gillies morrow trotts pot vin etc involved in org - Isles316
I dont know how you feel about Potvin. But I think he's done a terrific job as a color guy. Previously in Fla and now in Ottawa.
Heard an interview on XM NHL Radio the other day. Potvin has tons of Isles stories to tell. He should be with the Isles. He is knowledgeable, intelligent and entertaining. Having the top 2 or 3 "D" man of all time in the booth doesnt hurt either. |

So many people have a problem with Butch..........but the guy actually played the game and won. Have some respect for that. So he makes errors on the names.........he's an ex stanley cup champion. He's not the play by play guy. Hes there to talk hockey......which he obviously knows a thing or two about. - kindlyrick
I loved Butchie as a player. I have fond memories of him racing down the ice with that silly helmet flapping in the wind. He has my respect and admiration.
As for a color comentator.
Potvin should have the job based on the things you said and the fact that he's pretty damn good at it. |

I dont know, I understand him fine. Maybe im just fluent in gibberish, but butchie doesnt bother me as much as Howie. - kindlyrick
I agree that Howie is more annoying than Butch. They should switch Peter King with Howie. |

Where have you been I thought you got banned again but nice to see you have not lost your touch. So in conclusion I do know Howie, I actually do know hockey (probably more than you trust me) and sucking not my cup of tea but thanks for asking - kasperrko
You don't know Howie, nor hockey.

Nilsson can learn something about positioning from Nabby as that was Anders issue in the game he played this year. Nabby does have quite the excellent positioning.
I'm fine with Haley. He fits a good role for our 4th line and that tells us the 3rd line of Nino-Bailey-Ullstrom (after he returns) should stay together.
I think Bailey has improved his game a bunch over the past 5+ games. I know we all pinned him as a scoring 2nd line center at draft day, but he plays a solid defensive game and does well on the PK. I have no problem keeping him as a 3rd line center. You can see the confidence in his game recently. I think he'll finish strong this season if Nino and Ullstrom are his linemates consistently. |

I'm hoping concussion is just the replacement term for upper body injury. Makes no sense that we have seen this many concussions this year. What's changed?

The embarrassing part was the non renewel of Billy Jaffe. Not hiring Butch Goring. As I asked before..........who was more qualified for the job??? - kindlyrick
We agree on something... I am just going to leave it there b/c the other point we will just argue all day. |

"He was talking in his sleep last night," said Kevin Dahl, a Chicago defenseman who roomed with DiPietro on the road. "He never shuts up."

no offense potvin is terrible imo. he sounds drunk most of the time..and his time on on the fly was awful...i love the guy but color is not his bag - NYI78
None taken. We all have our preferences. I've been listening to DP on XM Radio (free subscription) for a little while now. I've enjoyed his talk. Also been catching a few Sens games. Again, I like what I've been hearing.
His best attribute is he brings a positive light to the NY Isles. Past and present. He's still respected in the NHL Community. |

I've never heard anything like that. He's shown up at all the events I can remember honoring the Cup teams, so obviously "he wants nothing to do with the Isles" isn't quite right. |

XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
I've not heard it quite put like that. I have heard that Denis is a NYC guy and he prefers the city to LI. While I cant understand that myself. It's his life. I also heard he was looking into the Isles Coaching position a few yrs ago when he was broadcasting in Fla. As far as I know he was never a serious candidate. I've never read or heard any animosity from him over the Isles or LI. |
