Wow, okay you've officially lost all credibility.

Not worth arguing with people that have this tenuous a grasp on reality.

I'm only talking about defensive play.

Don't use your "the Islander spend no money" get out of jail free card to cloud the issue.

That is not relevant to the argument.

- Suckmysweatybawls

It absolutely is...........you're the one bringing up statistics. Post lockout no less.

Yeah you're right.........Stepan walks onto a team with two of the top 10 in the league up front. Tons of pressure on him to perform.

Bailey was the first draft pick of the rebuild, and had ZEROOOOO to play with. I lost all credibility??? Easy coach.......or should i say GM?

Hate to break it to you but the Rags have been a better defensive team than the Isles since the lockout.

+/- is not proof of anything. Any real hockey fan knows that stat is useless.

Dubs gets more PK time than any Ranger forward. Torts has more faith in him than Callahan and Cally is also a better defensive forward than Nielsen.

- Suckmysweatybawls

The Rags have been a better team overall than the Isles. Doesn't mean that one particular player on one team is either a better or worse defensive player than particular guys on the other team. Records don't lie, but if you think that +/- is not proof of anything, then why do they keep a record of it? Why do teams and coaches refer to it when evaluating players? You want to dismiss it because it hurts your argument. That's fine, but I think you're in a vast minority if you really feel its a "useless" statistic.

As far as Callahan goes, he's a better player than Nielsen, absolutely. But again, he's also a minus player, working on a third straight minus season. Again, being a good defensive player among his Ranger teammates does not necessarily make a player a "good defensive player".

I wouldn't take Bailey over anyone of the Rangers forwards other than Avery. Bailey has a lot to prove that he's even a legit NHL player, let alone a good one.

He's been playing well the last 10 games or so..........wonder why? Cause he's finally playing with better wingers (not comeau who got waived.......or 4 liners). You cant go by statistics with Bailey when he doesnt see the PP. Not sure why the second best "disher" on the team isnt playing pump 2 on the PP.......but hey who am I.

Oh well Rangers win 5 - 2 with Gaborik scoring three and Richards twice since those ar there only goal scorers.

look at jordan eberle. another player drafted in the first round of the 08 draft and was the first pick in "a rebuilding process" and eberle has 15 less points in a 140 less games played. Bailey isn't a bust but he's not better than the likes of karlsson, myers, eberle or stepan.

Oh you mean Eberle who plays with Hall, and Nugent Hopkins? Yeah almost forgot about him. Very close to Bailey playing with Rolston, and a bridgeport callup in Ulstrom. I can see the similarities......

I think you could make the case that the reason Gaborik is off to such a ridiculous start is because of Stepan not the other way around. People fail to realize that.

He has played on lines with better wings than he is now in the past few years. He has had his chance to prove that he was worthy of where he was picked. And I'm sick of the playing with better players argument for some. Either you got it or you don't and up until the last 10 games or a few flashes here and there, Josh Bailey has not shown on a consistent basis that he's "got it".

We need to accept the fact Garth messed up and moved on. To say Bailey is on the same level as the likes of Stepan and Eberle is ridiculous.

He's probably close to the bubble but I wouldn't use the word bust yet just based on his age. He has time to prove he belongs but personally I just don't see anything special.

Bailey has like of tavares, grabner and moulson on his team right? So he's got talent around him. Maybe josh bailey is more of manny malhotra and not pat lafontaine.
