[quote=niteislander]His line scored the 2 we did get last night. The issue is the other lines need to score. Grabner HAS to score on the open net. He put it right into Biron's pad on other side of net... awful. quote]
Not his line.
HIM.
He has but 2 even strength goals in his last 29 games and 2 periods.
3 goals (one empty net and 2 even strength) his last 23 games.
His last power play goal was on October 30.
Those are disturbing numbers.
Tavares is a better player than that.
Is he hurt?

He just doesn't have the hands that guys like Stepan and Dubinsky have. Only few are as great of players as Dubi.

Just busting on you guys from yesterday. I know majority of Ranger fans have enough sense to know JT is better than those guys. |

Look who has showed up to Troll the Isles board again.. my old pal Downeaster. Most of those wins are as a Flyer against horrible Islanders teams... just sayin. - niteislander
I was just responding to your statement of how bad Biron is.

Dubi is good hockey player. But lets be real here. Streit blew his defensive coverage and Nabby has to make that save.
Dont worry about Bailey. Bailey has plenty of more upside. Dubi plays with Richards and Callahan on first line. Bailey gets put on line AHL wallace (instead of Nino) and Matt Martin. bailey will be an 75-80 point players in the nhl in next few years. - Spartiarti
Are you Chickendirt and is your Bailey your new Tambellini?

I will take Mary over Henrik any day. I think anyone would. Biron as an Islander lost 12 of 14 games. Then he got hot at end of year after we were long out of playoff picture and wond 5 of last 6 (not sure of numbers but that is what it felt like). So instead of Isles having top 2 pick we get 5th pick.. nino instead of Hall/Seguin. I am a little biased. |

When he is on the ice.. he is the focus. That is why his linemates are scoring. He has not played poorly. He is just not finding the back of the net. |

that makes total sense. You were pens fan but managed to watch every Isles game for last 20 years. does any thought go into your comments before you write them. How do you call yourself a fan? you bash the guys playing well, and predict we going to lose every game.
Sucked we lost to Rangers but by no means was it blow out. The better coached team one. - Spartiarti
Ok let me see I was a penguin fan up to about 15 so yeah twenty years of Islanders for me. I grew up with my dad who was a die hard. I actually even went to Islander hockey camps had dinner with Palffy and was a season ticket holder for years, so yes I call myself a fan and then to see what this team is all about now. I have been there for every thing for this team. When David Volek scored that goal I saw something special in this team. Well that went all out the window and now they run the place like Disney World. I am not hear saying we are the best team in teh world cause we are not, I am not saying that Wang and Snow are doing a great job cause they are not. Iam not saying JAck is a good coach cause he is not. I am not going to sit here and sugar coat this organization. There comes a time when enough is enough and well I know I am not alone in this but it is ENOUGH already. |

He did not win when it mattered.. then won when it didn't. Seguin has 30 points.. 14 goals this year. Hall was supposed to be next "great one". yes I am ready to crown them better than Nino. you chill out. |

Good players always get the focus.
Great players get the focus and score goals.
If you want to categorize Tavares as a great player he has to score while he gets the heat.

What game were you watching, Kasper? It's not like the Rangers ran away with it last night. I hardly think I'm blind to what's wrong with the Isles, but they were certainly in that one last night until Cappy decided to pull Nabby at a really bad moment. Really bad Islanders teams have beaten better Rangers teams before and vice versa. We all know that. There was one year in the early 2000s where the Isles were a playoff team and the Rangers were floundering, and I don't think we beat them once that entire season. - UIF
I watched the game last night and I didnt get the feeling that the Isles were EVER in IT. Rangers are a better team and they played like it. They wanted it more and it showed. Isle Showed no desperation at anytime during the game.
Entering the 3rd period down 2 goals and all they could muster was EIGHT SHOTS ON GOAL! Pathetic.
Out shot, out coached and out played. I'm surprised the score was as close as it was. I cant find the stat but I'll assume we were out hit also
Look no farther then these stats if you want to know why we lost: I'm usually not a big +- guy but in this case I believe the stat is glaring. These are the guys that should be putting up points.
KO-3
JT-3
Michael Grabner-3
Mark Streit-2
Frans Neilsen-3
M Jurcina-2
PLUS, Another butcher job of coaching by Cappy
And lastly. What has happened to A-Mac's game?
This kid spent more time lying on the ice then skating on it. Constantly falling down, turning over the puck and out of position. I am surprised he was only a -1 with no shots on goal. The way he played. I was begging for for Reese's return. |

You're just not going to get much support here...watching Tavares game in and game out, he's the best player on the team every game, and the best player on the ice when the Isles actually manage to put together a good win. We'd be concerned if he was getting muscled off pucks, or not controlling play on the forecheck, but that's not the case. Tavares is forced to work along the boards because PA and Moulson are incapable of doing that, Cappy won't split the line up, and Garth won't bring in anyone to dig pucks out. As such, he's behind the net or in the corners more than he's in a scoring position, and so he's racking up assists instead of goals. If the points are there, and the goals are coming, I don't care who's getting them. If anything, I'm impressed that he's added a gritty element to his game, and is not just a "circles-down shooter" that everyone said he was when we drafted him.
Virtually all of the goals that line puts up are directly the result of Tavares' work. I'm not saying that because I'm a fan and feel the need to defend him...I'm saying that because it's painfully obvious when you watch this team.
