You're just not going to get much support here...watching Tavares game in and game out, he's the best player on the team every game, and the best player on the ice when the Isles actually manage to put together a good win. We'd be concerned if he was getting muscled off pucks, or not controlling play on the forecheck, but that's not the case. Tavares is forced to work along the boards because PA and Moulson are incapable of doing that, Cappy won't split the line up, and Garth won't bring in anyone to dig pucks out. As such, he's behind the net or in the corners more than he's in a scoring position, and so he's racking up assists instead of goals. If the points are there, and the goals are coming, I don't care who's getting them. If anything, I'm impressed that he's added a gritty element to his game, and is not just a "circles-down shooter" that everyone said he was when we drafted him.

Virtually all of the goals that line puts up are directly the result of Tavares' work. I'm not saying that because I'm a fan and feel the need to defend him...I'm saying that because it's painfully obvious when you watch this team.

Yes, We've been saying it since the beginning and I believe its now common knowledge. JT is doing more on the ice then he should have to do. It's costing him goals. It's costing us games. To much time spent digging along the board instead of doing what he does best. Getting set up to score. He's kinda reversed his playing role IMO. From goal scorer to playmaker.

The Okposo we had two years ago is the type of player Tavares could use on the wing. Decent speed and relentless work along the boards. I can't think of anyone on the current roster that could fill the role though. Maybe some type of Islanders Frankenstein with Ullstrom's board work, Bailey's vision and Nielsen's defense. Or if we could clone Tavares and just have two of them out there...

I will take Mary over Henrik any day. I think anyone would. Biron as an Islander lost 12 of 14 games. Then he got hot at end of year after we were long out of playoff picture and wond 5 of last 6 (not sure of numbers but that is what it felt like). So instead of Isles having top 2 pick we get 5th pick.. nino instead of Hall/Seguin. I am a little biased.

pirate cute peaches ...you say you would take biron over lundquist any day... are you for real your judgement of talent is horrendous but then again you think bailey is gretzky... king henry is the ONLY reason that ranger team has been competitive over the last few seasons.. we should only wish we had king henry on the islanders

True, but I'll have you know that as Islanders fans we are still duty-bound to call him Queen Henry.
