I'm looking forward to tonight. It should be a spirited and energetic game. Should be a good aptmosphere in the building. I'm a bit disappointed that Nilsson was recalled instead of Poulin. I know the Isles need to showcase Nabokov, but I really would have loved to have seen Poulin get the nod in this game. It would have been great to see how he plays in the anticipated environment that will be in place tonight. - Jethro09
I hate to say it but im not so sure Nabby is being showcased. Knowing the isles, they're gonna re sign him.

Lundqvist is generally not the best goalie in the NHL in any given season. But he manages to stick around in the upper echelon longer than most who outperform him in individual years. You can make a strong case for him as tops in the league based on that. But he'll probably need a deep playoff run, if not a Stanley Cup, for it to become a more widely publicized discussion. - UIF
As much as I hate to admit it, the Queen is pretty darn good.

Don't feel too bad for the Isles. DP makes 4.5 and we are at the cap basement. The only people who give a sht about his contract are His wife, Ranger fans and Wang. Next year Isles will have 36 mill in cap room.
I would be more concerned with your own contract issues. Redden 6.5 for 3 more years, Brad Richards 6.7 till he is 40 years old, Gabby 7.5 for 3 more years, Dubi 4.2..yikes., and if you are worried about injuries.. how about Staal.. 4 mill for 4 more years.. u are still paying Drury too. - niteislander
At least the ownership of the Rangers makes an effort to be competitive and shows the fan base they care. Islanders ownership. Is an embarrassment beyond measure so let's not go there. Redden's cap hit is gone for the most part. Drury's cap hit will be gone after this season. Dubinsky while having a down season is still a really good young player. He would prob be te 2nd best player on the islanders if he played on your team. Gaborik is one goal off the league lead with 19. Richards has been damn good this year and is an elite center. Don't compare teams and salary cap hits because these r 2 teams going in totally different directions. The rangers will be competitive and contend for a Stanley cup for years to come while the islanders are still trying to find out where they will be in a couple years. |

So the one knock on Lundqvist is performance in the playoffs. Fine, but you'd put a goalie who blew a 3-0 lead in the playoffs(Rask) and another goalie who has reached the same level in the playoffs(Rinne), in elite territory?
If you seriously go down the list of every starting goalie in the league and come up with two more goalies better than Lundqvist, debatable would be putting it mildly. - MidnightMarauder
I think Pekke Rinne is one of the best in the league. He took Nashville very far last year, on a team with virtually no stars (minus Shea Weber, and Ryan Suter). If not for one awful play in game 6 they would have beaten the Canucks.
Henrik is in the tops of the league, but its all a matter of who's hot when it matters. When compairing the tier 1 goalies in the league, you cant say one is better than another. Its kinda like saying Stevie Ray Vaughn is better than Clapton. Its personal preference when you're talking about the best. |

it would not come as a suprise to see montoya sent packing in mid january for next to nothing ..especially since he has performed so well and is becoming a fan favorite ...he is too much competition for the pad test dummy we have signed for thru the next ice age |

I think without writing an entire paragraph, you just described the difference btwn a large market team vs a small market team (trying to rebuild without an arena deal).

I agree with the ownership thing but no Dubinsky would not be better than Okposo, Tavares, Moulson, Grabner, Hamonic or even Fransy. |

Every major Fantasy Hockey site had Hank ranked first among goalies to draft.
It's no Conn Smyth or Cup but I think it is a testament to the respect he already has around the league, especially from hockey analysts. - Suckmysweatybawls
Im no fantasy hockey guru.......but isnt it based on stats versus salary? Now im not saying the queen isnt in the elite, but im not sure he's the best in the league. |

Yes, I just find it laughable how so many ranger fans diss Long Island when members of their own fan base are from here. |

I never said he was the best in the league/world. I actually said he was top 3, without a doubt.
And, no, many FH sites do not use salary at all. |

He'll never re-sign with the Islanders. He didn't want to play here in the first place. He sat out instead of reporting. He only showed up to camp so he could get this contract expired and move on. He'll move on to a contender either at the trade deadline or next summer. He will not wear an Islander sweater past this season. I hope the same can be said for DP, but that would require an act of God. |

Not a fair question because you obviously know the answer. Its like trash talking the coliseum at this point.......we all know the deal. You know Wang has had problems with Politicians etc.
Again.........large market vs small market. |

DP will never retire........we got him till they buy him out. Garth Snow will get nothing for Nabokov.........heck he barely got something for Roloson who is much better IMO. |
