Can't blame it on him. Seabrook was victimized by Scott Hartnell as well.
- pri$ey

Oh you can...Keith is asleep in his own net and allows JVR to move right in for a tap in. Is hartnell going to pump one in from the side of the net?

Norris trophy winners don't fall asleep with 33 seconds left. What a joke. Guy gives up more back door plays, then a call girl in Vegas.

This game, that crap penalty taken because Kane stopped skating, and that goal just might be the thing that tips the listing Blackhawks ship over the edge and make it capsize.

Just like the game 2 years ago against the Wild, to come back and score 2 goals, take a crap penalty and then have YOUR FRICKING TOP PAIR FALL ASLEEP ON THE PLAY THAT LEADS TO THE GW GOAL . . . priceless

- savvyone-1

Yep....Keith shouldn't be in the Norris conversation. Giroux shouldn't be allowed to set up camp by himself at the blue line, but when you're PK system is way too passive that happens. Nice coaching.

They're both to blame.. Again, If Seabrook doesn't get beat at the side of the net that doesn't happen.

It's hard to take anything you say serious any more when it comes to Keith or Bolland, you got your hate on max and it gets in the way.

Savvy...your boy...DOZY Nick Leddy was to blame on the goal that woke Philly up. You might want to text him to tell him to wake the F up.
- philco28

Hey Philco,
Watch the replay of the play of which you speak. You'll find that he was damned either way. He had a guy open in front to his left, which is who he was covering at the time and in spite of his magical skating abilities, even SUPERMAN on skates could not have gotten back over to the side and covered THE FRICKING DEFENSEMAN THAT WAS NOT LEDDY'S RESPONSIBILITY.

Remember Hockey 101 in your defensive zone coverage:
D takes the forwards (which Leddy did), Forwards cover the D

Don't recall at the moment, but whatever right wing was out at the time blew the coverage. You want to blame Leddy, fine. Except that one is not on him.

My next Hockey 101 class awaits your next reply

Glad they play tomorrow. They tend to play well in the second of back to back games. Quick turnaround to shake this one off.

This team defense BLOWS...NOBODYS hits anybody....Seabs averages a hit every 3 games...Keith doesn't even breathe on anyone...he's too worried about his hockey hair getting messed up....Hammer lays someone out every 30 games at 3.5 mil...Leddy's a soft, dozy sophomore, O'Donnell's spent, and Olsen...well it was his first game...our forwards (with the exception of Carcillo, Hossa and Mayers) don't hit anyone either.....it's STILL EASY playing against the Chicago Black Hawks....

Puck possession game not as good and giving up way too many chances which is all on the D which includes not just the dmen but also the forwards playing d consistently.

Hawks don't get many rebound goals because of usually not much net presence, but also because their shots from the side are up and more easily absorbed by tha goalie.

Flyers weak side rebound goals tonite were off of low shots to the pads which kicked to a wide open Flyer on the weak side.

Savvy...lay off the Whisk-Eye bro....the goal i'm referring to happened in the last minute of the first period with us UP 1-0......Dozy Nick had possession just inside our blue line and all he had to do was make solid contact with the puck and get it out of our zone...instead...HE FANNED...and the red light was burning Emery's neck seconds later. Did you see the goal?

Well, until the love fest for a guy who can't make people around him better AND gets more BS excuses made for him then any Hawk I can remember in my lifetime ends, I won't. His back. His linemates. Blah, Blah, Blah. Fact is HE very well could be THE reason why Frolik, Bickell, Stalberg all cool down when moved down with him. Why do you think he isn't, and Kane is, moved to 2nd line center?

As far as Keith goes...Come on...He falls asleep far too often on back door plays. Especially for a top pair defenseman. Again, I just watched it...Hartnell can't jam it with Emery there, Seabrook a step away, and Keith taking away the front...Only play was the pass...If anything, Mayers for not attacking Giroux I'll give you.

Extremely frustrating not to get a point when you come back from 2 with 5+ minutes left, and kill off a 4 minute PP. Those are points that could mean the difference between a top 3 seed and a 4/5 seed.

Yep, saw that one. Yep, he fanned on the backhand up the boards after getting forechecked by 2 guys. Tell me, what happened to the rest of the guys on the ice?

I know his failed clear lead to the goal -- but what about the other 4 guys falling asleep at the wheel?

And my description of the other goal is spot-on BTW. No wing d zone coverage, Leddy is damned either way.

So true...very nice comeback but then to lose it like that on the 4th weakside goal of the nite. Kane went to lift the stick and caught the face. 46 SOG against and many were great chances. One of the better 5 goal loser efforts you will see.

That's the problem....Hawks D zone coverage is brutal. d men losing guys in front of the net. Forwards falling asleep.

He actually fanned on a forehand because he is related to Sleepy...one of the 7 Dwarfs....NO EXCUSE for that goal...he gets it out...we lead 1-0 after one...don't blame the other guys.

Not sure what the other goal is you're talking about? The 2-2, 3-2, or 4-2 goals by Philly?

First of all, Shaw is the Burish replacement that i have wanted and he looks to have more skill than Burr. Second, the stand their and wait for the player to move crap on the PK is horrible and that game winning goal is what happens when you play that way.
This is not just from this game but all year long, what is with the whole get hit ANYWHERE on the upperbody and throw you head back like you got hit in the face for a for sure penalty. Its garbage and shame on the refs for calling highsticking penalties when they never really saw a stick hit their face.

Excited for Shaw and Hayes showing promise.

It's one game but Shaw should start watching videos of Brad Marchand right now.. Thats the type of player he could be.

Lots of heart, good skill and his skating is good too.

It's still January, but with a lot of home games...they need to stockpile the points, and fast. As we all saw tonight, winning on the road is extremely difficult...

The good news is that this team isn't playing their best hockey yet. Haven't seen that string of complete games with limited mistakes and a full effort for 60 minutes.

No excuse for Kane to not hustle back and make a better effort to tie up the trailer. He stopped skating and then made a weak attempt to lift the guys stick and ended up clipping him. He cost the team a point, if not two, tonight with his laziness. I know some guys will say he's been much better a helping defensively this year, and I admit that he has, but just because he's been better at it in previous games doesn't make it okay for him to not give a better effort on that play. Even if the Hawks lost it in overtime or in a shootout, that would have been a huge point to take out of that game. If it wasn't Kane, but instead someone like Bickell, Brunette or Frolik who made a dumb play like that to cost them a point, they'd be getting roasted on this board.

Is it too much to ask the coaching staff to see the value in asking players to remove opponents from the puck rather than only counting on removing the puck from the opponents?

The "active stick" mandate on defense - and the forecheck for that matter - not only makes the team weak, but it creates even more chances for turnovers that come as a result of a stick check to get the puck back again.

Believe it was the 2nd GA but without replays up at the moment, not sure. Cripes, you make it sound like he airmailed a pass up the middle right onto the tape of a Philly player and it ended up in our net. You can make him the scapegoat for that goal but there were 4 other guys asleep at the wheel on that goal. No question he blew the clearing pass -- and it WAS a backhand, btw.
