I see your point, but for a '67 expansion franchise to be even in the same conversation even when it comes to regular season success as a team that dominated the sport for decades at a time is impressive to me. Let alone the fact that we may pass them.
We have an awful record all time in the finals. Since the mid 70's runs we just seem to not come through in the final round (granted sometimes it was due to major injuries) I wish we were more like the Oilers who I think are 5 series wins and 2 losses. - Hextall271
i didn't mean to undermine the flyers regular season success. it's a tremendous accomplishment and certainly made it enjoyable to be a fan. i just meant in direct comparison to the habs, despite their futility in recent years, they'd get the last laugh with all that hardware. tough to swallow when we've been close so many times, but have generally run up against a healthy juggernaut while being riddled with injuries at the same time. it sucks.

I'll take the win, but I was not very happy with how the Flyers performed at the dot last night or the fight along the boards.
It was my observation that even when a Flyer center "won" the faceoff, too many times the Carolina winger ended up with the puck. It seemed even more dramatic because of the goal it cost the Flyers, but also during special teams. I also felt the Flyers lost too many board battles.
IMHO, the Flyers were a bit lucky that BOB was on his game and Carolina is not a truely strong team.
If that game was against a stronger / playoff positioned team, I think that the Flyers lose.

mab has done a very nice job. his play has dipped a bit in recent games, but that's to be expected. do i want to go into the playoffs with him as a #6? i'd prefer a solid veteran rental because i don't want lava to shorten his bench and run his top 4 into the ground. it never works. - hammarby31

i have a concern with the team and not sure what will happen but danny b is signed for 3 more years after this and nothing against him but after this season i feel our top 3 centers will have to be g, schenn and cooter, moving briere to wing didnt pan out so my question is where does danny b fit on the team after this season? |

Schenn really Carter'd that play didn't he. - Buts16
yes and no. i'd say no only in that he didn't put the puck back into anderson the way carter did at other times. see pittsburgh, maf, as the prime example. anderson made that save - awesome and lucky as it was. |

LOVE LOVE that the Habs got shut out at home by Halak.
The Habs moved the Molson Cup for December presentation to last night (3rd home game of the month) The winner was Price and this was obviously done to take away from the return of the Halak. They'll say it wasn't but it was and it was petty.

Maybe it sucks that we are in this position, but the fact is, the org has to get Bryz playing like he can or we are in major trouble with the money we forked out. Play him.. get it sorted out and everyone is happy. - Hextall271
Bob played solid last night. Not to take anything away from his performance but Carolina stinks in my opinion. I think they have to give Bob another start, but Bryzgalov needs to get his poop together. |

"Let's put it this way: If someone told you when training camp started that Philly would have 54 points at the midway mark -- without the benefit of a single shootout win -- would you have taken it? I certainly would, and would have thought pretty much everything would have gone right and the club would have stayed healthy to get there.
Now, what if someone said that Chris Pronger would be limited to 13 games for the entire season? What if they told you that Ilya Bryzgalov would have a goals against average over 3.00 and save percentage under .890? I would have said that 54 points would be almost impossible under those circumstances.
How about if someone told you that the Flyers would rank in the league's top three in goals per game, and would have eight forwards on pace for 20-plus goals? Oh, and what if they added that highly touted rookie Schenn would have just two goals at the midpoint and Jakub Voracek would be on pace for only 12 tallies?
That's why hockey is played on ice and not on paper. The game is not just about statistics and the outcomes often confound expectations. The Flyers have a lot of work to do between now and April to be legitimate Stanley Cup contenders. But it's hard not to tip your hat to Peter Laviolette and his team for what they've accomplished overall so far."
Makes you appreciate the depth of this team, for sure. |

Well, Bryz needing to get his poop together is precisely why I think he needs to start. Maybe the next two. He's got to get some confidence and start moving in the right direction, and that's a long term thing. If we say Bob played well, let's start him until he craps the bed, then Bryz can't move forward. It may cost us a couple points in the short term, but it's what we need to be successful overall this year. |

This is Seravalli's story this AM about the Flyers talking to Burke about Luke Schenn. Sounds interesting on many levels and like it could be a good fit. Any opinion and thoughts as what it might cost us? - section32

Read that this morning. I dunno. Could be something to it, but I think the price will be high to get him. What will the Leafs want? I say a first rounder or maybe schenn or Simmonds. Young forward talent. Not sure I want to do that. |

How the (frank) does Luke Schenn, a physical, stay at home type, replace a puck mover who is mobile like Matt Carle?
I'd be interested in Schenn, but Burke is not going to give him away. I'd bet he'd want a 1st rounder and a guy like Read for him.
More likely, IMO, is Cody Franson, who has been in and out of Wilson's doghouse. |

These two games in my opinion, was the perfect chance to get Bryzgalov going. Your playing Carolina and NYI, the two worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Now instead of your suppose #1 goalie in net your playing your backup. Those games were the perfect opportunity to get Bryzgalovs game going and instead he was riding the pine. Maybe Lavy went with Bob cause of the 4 games in 6 days and I can understand that. Im just not jumping all over the Bob-wagon bc he beat a terrible team in Carolina. I do think Bob played well and dont want to take that away from him last night. He gave the team a boost between the pipes last night. |

the comments are a riot. not sure that i see luke schenn as the type of player the flyers need right now - based on his age and experience. can't comment on his game because i don't watch him play. |
