he'll be an RFA first, i believe, so the flyers will have some control. if it turns out bryz poops the bed, the flyers might be able to live his cap hit for awhile assuming the cap continues to rise. then again, another lockout could be on the horizon after this year. many questions linger. - hammarby31
All true. I guess it's too early to be concerned with now. |

Problem is teams are going to want him as a starter. Can't pay a backup goalie 3+ million. - PLindbergh31
I know what you are saying, but is he a UFA after this season? I don't remember. If not, see how it pans out.. COuld you imagine if this time next year, Bryz still doesn't have it together?? Big decision time.. wow |
|
|
|
sure you can. just ask charles waaaaaaang. - hammarby31
These Fishsticks own the Winged Wheel. If Detroit ever plays the NYI in the Stanley Cup Finals, they will have problems. |

He's an RFA after next season. Which means the Flyers have the right to match any deal. |

If Bob keeps playing well, they can unload him in a trade that will bring back a nice little package. Im down with that, dude. |

I'll take the win, but I was not very happy with how the Flyers performed at the dot last night or the fight along the boards.
It was my observation that even when a Flyer center "won" the faceoff, too many times the Carolina winger ended up with the puck. It seemed even more dramatic because of the goal it cost the Flyers, but also during special teams. I also felt the Flyers lost too many board battles.
IMHO, the Flyers were a bit lucky that BOB was on his game and Carolina is not a truely strong team.
If that game was against a stronger / playoff positioned team, I think that the Flyers lose. - dcflyerfan71
It's important to beat the teams you're supposed to beat. They did that last night.

I think that will be the most likely scenario. |

i wouldn't waste time worrying about it. we've got a good young team, and a lot to enjoy. it will get handled in due time. |

bill - lava continues to use jvr at the point on the pp. i just don't get it. not saying that decision is the reason why it looks so bad at times, but it's not helping. - hammarby31
All's I can figure is they're giving him a chance to learn the position on the job. |

Schenn and Couturier are going to be really fun to watch. 20, and 19 years old respectively. Flyers are set down the middle for a decade + |

bizarre, but not something likely to happen any time soon. |

Good, fluid skater. Definitely categorized more as "slow" than "fast", but he has the ability to make plays with the puck on his stick. - bradleyc4
looks like the last two years he's been matched up against weak competition and sheltered from defensive zone draws. not exactly the kind of player we'd need right now. not sure he'd be a legitimate option to replace carle going forward, either. |

This is Seravalli's story this AM about the Flyers talking to Burke about Luke Schenn. Sounds interesting on many levels and like it could be a good fit. Any opinion and thoughts as what it might cost us? - section32
I said yesterday JVR for L SCHENN + 1st

nope, not replacing Carle at all. he's a bottom-pairing defenseman who can help out on the PP. no one on the blue line has a shot like his, other than Pronger, though. |

This is why I cant stand contracts that are longer than 4-5 yrs and have NMC in them. With the salary cap in play each year I dont understand why teams handcuff themselves. I was all for signing Bryzgalov but I didnt know his deal would be 9 years with a NMC, just ridiculous. |

I still have Christmas money left, but it's going toward a trip to England in the fall. |

agreed. i'd like to see the next cap include contract length limits. no more than 5 years. |

Only reason we have these long term contracts is to lower cap hits. There has to be a better way to do it. |
