I think you're fine. I don't see the Flyers giving up on JVR this quickly. Plus I remember seeing Nashville scouting Read the other month. |

I gave up with spending emotion on penalties outside of the playoffs a long time ago. Whether you get a bad penalty or not each player to a man needs to be accountable defensively. This gets overlooked because of the scoreboard by the fans and media. Look I like both goalies I could care less at this point who is the starter, except for the fact the Flyers need Bryz to get going otherwise bet throttled by his contract. If these guys aren't going to play tight in front of either goalie forget it. Until then there will be a goalie controversy b/c unless you catch lightning in a bottle with a goalie you aren't getting one that can constantly make up for bad breakdowns like those the Flyers commit. - JoeRussomanno
Absolutely. I talked about that yesterday with a co worker. Bryz hasnt been good. I will admit that. He needs to vastly step up his game.. But Brian Boucher holds the modern day record for the most consecutive shutouts (5 games).
What does that have to do with anything? Well confidence goes a long with with goalies. If a goalie can get his confidence up and keep it up.. they tend to elevate their play. Early in the season Bryz had an amazing amount of unstopable fluky deflection goals go in.. it was deflating. Then he started to get his confidence up and went on a 12 game tear.. and then the confidence deflated again, and lately, he will look good make some solid saves, and then a fluky goal will be scored, and then he lets up a weak one.. and he has no confidence.
The defense can help that, by preventing break downs like the glaring ones in the winter classic, and last night. When you have faith in your defense, it boosts your play.. same as when you have faith in your goalie.. |

Im curious to how much they can get for Suter. They can put the price high but many teams know he will be a UFA at the end of the year. I dont know if I would be willing to trade alot to get him unless I believe I can sign him before he even hits the market. |

Well didn't just buy it, got it for Xmas. Still, Richards jersey is useless; hoping the JVR jersey is still relevant in a few months.

If we had to trade 1 of: JVR, Schenn, or Coots (plus some other parts) to get Weber or Suter, who is the first to go? |

I dont move any of those guys unless its for Weber. I would be willing to move JVR first. I think he will be a very good player but Nashville wants a guy who can step in now and I think JVR is alittle more seasoned then the others. |

No one--because that's asinine. This team gels well. The D corp is a wreck, but I'm not giving up on any of these young kids so fast just for a playoff push. |

i have a concern with the team and not sure what will happen but danny b is signed for 3 more years after this and nothing against him but after this season i feel our top 3 centers will have to be g, schenn and cooter, moving briere to wing didnt pan out so my question is where does danny b fit on the team after this season? - mydoglicks
Briere moves to WIng if need be. |

I don't think it'd be fair to call ANY of the moves as asinine. I'd love to hold onto all 3 as much as the next person. But if Pronger is forced to retire (which is a real possibility with quotes like "Not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel), then a trade for a franchise D-man is a necessary evil. Especially considering Timonen's age... |

We could. But when has Snider ever struck you a guy who doesn't want to improve come playoff time. I think it's a safe assumption that with this defense, we will likely get bounced in round 1 or 2. With a solid upgrade, it would allow Snider to make another serious run at the cup. Whether or not its illogical, the Flyers won't stand pat come the TDL.
And since we aren't having big numbers coming off the books at the end of this season, I don't think FA will help address the need for a franchise d-man (again, assuming Pronger is done, which isn't a definite). |

I doubt JVR is really going to go anywhere, BTW. He's already displayed what he can do at the top of his game (looking like a man among boys in the Boston series). The ownership had committed to 6 years with him soon after cleaning out the previous core of the team. Whether or not he's juicy bait for a trade, i would consider him and Giroux as untouchable at this point. |

I've got a couple Roo jerseys already, so I ended up with a Cooter and Bryz for the WC. |
