I would give Nashville this package. JVR, Gustafsson, a # 1 and a #3 for Weber. - PLindbergh31
I dont think that gets it done.....
I would do JVR, Carle, 1st and read |

I dont think so..
Look at what it took San Jose to get Brent Burns..
Setoguchi, Coyle, and a 1st.
If we overpay, and that is exactly what we would be doing, it could hurt us in other places.
The fact that he is a UFA in 6 months is pretty much all I need to know in order to decide that Suter is not worth trading for right now. - jak521
That's what I was saying earlier, the price to acquire a young puck moving dman is staggering.
I think you need to build the Defense through the draft and make some smart UFA signings like an Ian White type and so on.

Well when that future comes, Timonen will be gone and your going to be in the same situation as we are now looking for more defense. With Timonen here this and next year and the budding talent this team has... they have a legit opportunity for a cup this or next year. - Flyers2821 without pronger theyll get destroyed by boston....no ones is going to push out the bruins from the front..

Nothing to analyze with Flyers/Fishsticks Butsy. It's like the Globetrotters vs. the Washington Generals.
- PLindbergh31
This game worries me.
The Fishsticks are due to get it going, they have some talent. |

What do you think of a Hal Gill as a stop gap on that 3rd pair? |

Dude.. Claude Giroux is the best player in the NHL. You don't trade him for anyone. Period.
And you say great centers are much easier to come across than top dmen. Over the past 5 years the Flyers have had 2 of the games best dmen on their team and havent had an elite center since Eric Lindros.
Name the NHL centers on Claude Giroux's level over the past decade. Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin... The dude is an absolute rare breed. To trade him for anyone would be absolutely horrendous. - Flyers2821
I think Giroux is one of the best players in the league but I wouldnt say the best. He needs to get better defensively to be considered the best in the league. Offensively he is as talented as anyone. Im not saying I would trade him for anyone just dont think he is the best player in the league yet. |

LeClair didn't come into his own until he was traded. If Jvr is compared to LeClair, maybe trading him for himself will allow him to finally become the player we all know he can be. Plus we get a 1st out of it. |

Nashville won't want Carle. They aren't going to take any UFA's back in a deal for Weber. |

Yea me 2 but the way I see it, the flyers will lose Carle for nothing in the off season because they wont be able to resign him....and read and that first might not turn out into anything great.... So the biggest lose would be JVR |

If the Flyers got him cheap at the deadline I'd be thrilled, he's a very good 3rd pairing Dman with Cup experience. |

i can live with losing carle, but i don't see Read as a flash in the pan, and i HATE giving up 1st rounders. sometimes we exchange them - like carter for couturier - and it looks like it will work out, but in general i don't like this practice.
