Have you seen Bryz's playoff numbers with Coyotes? Bob's playoff numbers are comparable (Bryz's playoff #s last year - .879sv%, 4.36GAA). I'm just saying that Bryz hasn't performed well in the playoffs since he left the Ducks. If i recall correctly, he had hall of fame defensemen Scott Neidermeyer and Chris Pronger (in his Prime) in front of him when he was putting excellent playoff performances. Since then, he's not faring well at all. He has won exactly 3 playoff games since he left Anaheim in 2007. I hope he performs well but the Ducks of Bryz's day had a better defense than the Flyers have. - Flyers_01
He also played for the coyotes against the Detroit Redwings. The yotes didnt belong on the same ice as the Redwings. They had one guy who managed to hit 20 goals last year. They don't get into the playoffs if Bryz doesn't play almost everygame for the last two months before the playoffs.
Stop giving the guy crap that is really irrelevant to the present. Despite giving up 4 goals against chicago he kept that game in hand. Then he definitely won that Senators game last Saturday for them. Sunday he got snake bit again by some poor play by his team and whiffed on a goal that came by way of a 3 on 1 rush.
Yes he played good behind a defensive team in Anaheim and poorly behind a bad one in Phoenix in the playoffs, so what? For the Flyers to win a cup they are going to need a much better roster than what Phoenix skated out there in front of Bryzgalov. Hasek couldn't win a cup for Buffalo and most would probably rank him top 10 of all time. In fact he couldnt win a cup until he played for detroit. Its not all about the goalie. It's a big factor but the the guys in front have to pull their weight.
Bobrovsky gave up a goal against Carolina when if one of the forwards doesn't skate away from the play, Bob probably walks out of there with a shutout. This team isn't playing great in their own zone. Doesn't matter what the goalie does if you don't play well in front of him forget it. |

I didnt write that short piece. I just posted it for everyone else. I am well aware of bobrovsky's playoff numbers. He was a rookie last year, so I don't think it is completely fair to judge from that. I believe Bryzgalov's bad numbers were just a case of Detroit completely dominating the Yotes those two years. Bryzgalov without a doubt is in a funk right now, I just hope he doesnt take all year to get out of it. This is the reason I firmly believe that no goaltender deserves a long term contract. Goaltender's are typically inconsistent on a year to year basis. Lundqvist is the only goaltender that has truly been great over a long period of time that I can think of. (I'm talking current goaltenders) MAF has been relatively consistent, but does get into a funk every now and then. He doesnt take the whole year to get out of it though.
It will be interesting to see what happens if bob keeps us his tremendous play as he has been pretty good all year. I think he allowed only one goal over the pre season or something stellar like that? |

No you give your starter a chance to get back into it and get some confidence and get the D playing around him again.....one game is not the hot hand. If he won 5 in a row then maybe yeah. |

Bob was 4-0 or 3-0 or something like that in December... 5-1 or 4-1 in his last five or six starts. |

But these are the points that are needed in April so you play the better goalie. Right now the better goalie is Bobo. Will he be the better goalie in March or April? I certainly hope not.
Bryz will get more than an ample opportunity to turn his game around. |
