I actually think bryz has been hung out to dry unfairly....the team plays like crap in front of him....i hope it doesnt happen to bob. I do think on any given night he gives you a better chance to win regardless of those numbers. - Philly1980
I agree. Not to take anything away from Bob, he has had plenty of solid games but Bob plays the weaker teams. Bob has also had pretty bad games, both starts to the Jets. |

Not totally unfair. He's been letting in a softee or two in (or at the very least, a stoppable goal for someone of his caliber) at terrible times. He has to tighten up that part of his game. |

He also played for the coyotes against the Detroit Redwings. The yotes didnt belong on the same ice as the Redwings. They had one guy who managed to hit 20 goals last year. They don't get into the playoffs if Bryz doesn't play almost everygame for the last two months before the playoffs.
Stop giving the guy crap that is really irrelevant to the present. Despite giving up 4 goals against chicago he kept that game in hand. Then he definitely won that Senators game last Saturday for them. Sunday he got snake bit again by some poor play by his team and whiffed on a goal that came by way of a 3 on 1 rush.
Yes he played good behind a defensive team in Anaheim and poorly behind a bad one in Phoenix in the playoffs, so what? For the Flyers to win a cup they are going to need a much better roster than what Phoenix skated out there in front of Bryzgalov. Hasek couldn't win a cup for Buffalo and most would probably rank him top 10 of all time. In fact he couldnt win a cup until he played for detroit. Its not all about the goalie. It's a big factor but the the guys in front have to pull their weight.
Bobrovsky gave up a goal against Carolina when if one of the forwards doesn't skate away from the play, Bob probably walks out of there with a shutout. This team isn't playing great in their own zone. Doesn't matter what the goalie does if you don't play well in front of him forget it. - JoeRussomanno
Point of order on Hasek. Brett Hull's foot was in the goal crease in 1999. The Sabre's should've won the cup that year. Also, no matter how bad the Sabres were Hasek almost always put up incredible numbers in the playoffs. Bryz has a long way to go to match Hasek's playoff stats (65games won, 2.02 gaa, .925sv%), most of which was earned on a team you admit was generally bad.
Also, while the Flyers forwards are more talented than Phoenix, Im not so sure about the defense (esp. with Pronger out). How is Bryz's replacement doing in Phoenix this year? Mike Smith is putting up CAREER NUMBERS. Their offense still sucks but noone can deny that defensively that team is playing well. He didn't need a "grace period" to fit in with his new team.
I honestly don't believe Bryz's performance will improve until the defense improves. Bob can play behind a leaky defense, Bryz can't. Either way the Flyers aren't winning anything without team defense improving. |

I think it's more that you signed Bryz to be the guy, and while he hasn't played great, it just feels like he isn't the guy. You don't pay a goalie for 9 years at 5.5 or whatever to duke it out with a 2nd year back up goalie. Personally, I don't really care who plays because both have played up and down this year, though Bob has been slightly better (but played less games).
I just don't understand why they went out to get their franchise goalie, but don't play him almost every game like the other franchise goalies get. - funmaster18
Thats a valid point. I hope Lavy hasnt lost confidence in Bryz. |

i'm not trying to single you out...but it seems like there are a bunch of people on this board that look at these "trade proposals" only from the aspect of LOSING something they know and like. i'm not saying the grass is always greener, but still.... - eshake
Do you think trading Read will bring back a top 3 defenseman?

In all seriousness I think tonight will be a close game. Isles are a touch better than there record and if DiPietro wasn't in net in November, the Isles would have won that game at the Coliseum. Still don't like the matchup. We dont play well vs. physical teams. - Isles316
I was at the game and sat right behind DP...He was hurting the whole time and wincing....that guy was in pain man. he still played decent. |

i said this yesterday...i don't think Bryz has found his groove and 24/7 screwed it all up. New system and new d-man, it takes time. there were baby steps this past weekend...
right now it's all about points and you go with the hot hand. |

I think he's doing what he has to for now while Bryz is struggling. We need these points. It's swiftly getting to the time in the season where he'll have to really get Bryzgalov going, though. |

Lavy to me seems like the NHL's version of Dr. Hook. The way he handled the goalies in the playoffs last year was atrocious. (I would have left Bob in the whole time.)
He always has had a history of playing the hot hand and won a cup doing it with Cam Ward. Since then I think he believes it will always work. I think this one thing is the only real personal criticism of Lavy I can make.

best thing to happen to the isles besides getting a new building would be for him to retire. I feel bad for the guy, he cares and has done everything he can to get back. However, his GAA is 3.73 and save pct is under .88. Unacceptable when you have a young team just trying to be respectable. |

I dont disagree with you. I just think the Flyers at some point are going to have to give Bryzgalov like 8 consecutive starts whether he wins or loses. I have no problem with Bob getting the call tonight in net. |

They have some serious skill with Couturier and Read on the "4th line".
Its a great thing, they will get some decent match ups and put up points
Read is the ultimate utility guy, he plays in every situation, 1st line to '4th' line, PK, PP, and can even play point on the PP. Takes faceoffs or plays on the wing.
He has speed and can score. Low cap hit. Defensively responsible.
I don't really want to trade that kind of player, role guys like him contribute a ton to winning teams. - Marc D
The ratio between his Cap hit and the quality of player he is, makes him even more valuable. In a Salary cap era, having players of that quality, locked up for two more years after this at less then 1M Cap hit, is invaluable. |

I'm sure the Media have been all over Bryz for every little thing, starting with the universe. The media being all over him that forced those comments were made were extremely unfair. |

Which is why you need to trade him for a huge cap hit immediately. How are you not getting this?!

You never know what Lavy is thinking. Last years goalie carousel was ridiculous. He even went to the extreme and played Leighton who I believe only had 1 NHL game all season. LOL. |

The media has not been kind to Brygalov at all. Which is kind of strange since he is always very friendly and accommodating with them.
The media in this town blows.........(perhaps this is all I should have said)

It makes sense if you think realllly hard about it. He makes less than the guy who makes more. Because of that, he is good trade bait. You trade him for a guy who has a huge cap hit and it would likely off set. |

I agree. He's not exactly getting any sort of understanding from fans. It doesn't matter what he's getting paid, he was never going to be the second coming of Martin Brodeur coming into this season. If anyone were expected as such, that's your own problem. |
