Is there a trade brewing between the Philadelphia Flyers and Toronto Maple Leafs? It's quite possible.

Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports Don Luce was present for the third time -- at least -- in as many weeks at the ACC for Tuesday's contest between the Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres. Luce, the Flyers director of player development, spent a similar amount of time in Toronto ahead of last year's pre-deadline trade (Feb. 14) for forward Kris Versteeg.

Plus, the Flyers are reportedly in the market for a defenseman, in light of Chris Pronger's absence. As we're well aware, the Leafs have plenty of capable defenseman. And Seravalli suggests Luke Schenn (cap hit: $3.6 million) is the "most interesting" possibility.

"... I like Schenn because his role with the Flyers would be three-fold. He would be the perfect No. 4 or No. 5 in an already stable defense corps for the Flyers' playoff run. He would quickly jell on a roster that already features his brother. And he is a capable replacement for Matt Carle, should the Flyers not be able to re-sign the soon-to-be unrestricted free agent ..."

We would be very surprised -- beyond shocked -- if Leafs GM Brian Burke opted to move Schenn, who's locked in until 2016. If the Flyers GM Paul Holmgren manages to swing a deal for a Leafs' D-man, we suspect either Cody Franson or Carl Gunnarsson would be involved instead. For his part, Burke could be interested in a young, big forward like Jakub Voracek

In toronto they already have schenn packing as much as we have JVR being moved.

I am simply shocked that a person whose job is it to scout players was seen scouting players recently.

I wouldn't go that far. But I wouldn't give up ton for either Franson or Gunnarsson. They don't really need Gunnar. They have Gustafsson, who is similar in talent level, although not as accomplished.

Franson has been up and down and was traded for Brett (frank)ing Lebda. Who was almost immediately bought out by his new team. No way I trade Voracek for that, despite the fact that I like Franson.

IMO Voracek has been our most consistent FW the past 7 games. He's been rocking. I dont want to trade him.

Im not moving Schenn or Couts out of their current roles. They are both starting to find their legs where they are now.

It seems to be a trend among a lot of fans. Take a player who is having success in a role, and put him in another role. Makes a lot of sense.

most scouts are regional scouts. they'll go to games in their region. big (frank) made too big of a deal about this....he's enamored with sources and trying to break news.

with that extra first you can get another forward and a D or two D guys...puts us in a better position for the future. I personally dont think we are good enough to make a cup run this year.
