Everyone here knows how big of a fan I am of Carle. I think he's a very underrated, and very under appreciated player here. And he is playing very, very well right now. But Suter is a significant upgrade over Carle. - MJL
Yes, I know, you are a Carle guy, but again, it's opinion, (Suter over Carle), would I take Suter over Carle?, yes, probably, but I would have to look at my cap situation first
Weber is worth it, but Suter?, his numbers are the same as Carle's except for the 4 extra minutes in ice time, which can be made up by a little bit better #6 guy, (like Gus maybe?)
but Suter's numbers don't blow me away like Weber's, (it's not like Suter is a 15 goal, 50-60 point guy), Suter is going to get paid better than Duncan Keith, who I think, (again, opinion), is worth it as much as Weber.
But Keith is on a forever contract, so it's a little different. |

The Philadelphia Flyers have denied that the team is going to trade James van Riemsdyk to Toronto in a deal involving Luke Schenn.
Their denial is not terribly surprising. Although we wouldn't rule out this kind of deal happening and there are certain elements, such as Brayden Schenn's contract with the Flyers, that make this deal particularly appealing from a fan's perspective, we still haven't seen much evidence to suggest that either side is seriously considering this swap. If it happened, it would be a bold move between two teams that are battling for a playoff spot, but we wouldn't count on the two getting traded for each other or as part of some larger package involving both players.

Contract is as much a function of the market place as it is how good the player is. Suter over Carle makes the Flyers a better team. It's a valid point of is it worth it. But if Pronger doesn't play again, and Timonen having one year left. Suter is much closer to being a top pair defenseman then Carle is.

Didn't read through any posts and I may be way late on this but thought you guys may appreciate this like I did but did anyone else see this tweet (that was deleted) by Mike Richards?
So the NHL thinks we should all wear visors so why do we get penalized if we fight with them on? #whatajoke
(frank)ing hate him even on the Kings.. That is the dumbest logic I have ever seen. |

This is how I look at it:
Weber 15 goals 40 assists 55 points very physical 26 minutes $7.5 million
Suter 7 goals 35 assists 42 points not overly physical 26 minutes $6.5 million
Carle 5 goals 35 assists 40 points not overly physical 22 minutes $5 million
what? the numbers are approximates of what they've done & possible upside
this is where I don't see how Suter is so high over Carle that he would command that much more, (again, it;s all about the UFA, just ask Leino) but again, I don't see where Suter is only a million under Weber either.
I do pay the difference for Weber, but again, I wouldn't give Weber so much as to fuc% our cap up either, I just don't see the glaring element that Suter brings us that we are lacking, but again, it's opinion & preference. |

Timmonens numbers are not overly high in points either but I would still list him as a better defenseman then Carle. I think Suter is another version of Timmonen (not saying Suter is better), imo. |

also would think that suter would have more pts playing for a much better offensive club. |

If it was me, there wouldnt even be a choice, as I would take Suter over Carle any day of the week (even if he cost $1-2M more). |

I think Suter would put way more points up in Philly than he does in Nashville. |

Don't know if this has already been posted, but interesting read on Bob vs Bryz.
http://bleacherreport.com...-hollow-fradulent-numbers
I don't necessarily agree with the whole thing, cause I do beleive Bob has been solid, but there is merit to the idea that letting Bryz start vs some weaker opponents to gain some confidence. |
