Talbot didn't look right after the game in the interview. I would hope JVR being so close to the Pronger situation would have the smarts to tell someone he wasn't feeling right as soon as he felt it. - PLindbergh31
The video SanFillippo posted was poor quality, and he looked bad. The one on CSN, he seemed more focused and didn't seem to be in bad shape.
But it's hard to tell from a video, taken well after the incident. Symptoms can happen after that.
I'd hope any player would simply report the symptoms, let alone a guy who has seen Pronger. I mean, he's also got examples in Laperriere, Giroux, Schenn, Read and Gagne during his time as a Flyer.
Not to mention Crosby, Marc Savard, Marc Staal and David Perron, all of whom missed significant time after returning with an original concussion and further aggrivated their troubles. |

still interested? was interested - mydoglicks
I don't see JVR having a concussion causing the Leafs to lose interest. Obviously, they won't do anything right now, with JVR being injured. And Toronto could make a deal somewhere else in the mean time. If they're intent on making a deal. |

Same here. I really believe despite the misguided perception on his toughness he actually is a tough kid. Not dropping the gloves and laying people out on a regular basis doesn't make you a punk. He's a talented player that needs to use his toughness in other ways. Hopefully the team can use the LTIR benefit if he's to be out for an extended period of time to address that troublesome defensive zone. I personally believe the JVR we saw in the playoffs is who he is. He was on pace for a heckuva season before he got banged up. He even showed some flash lately in the chicago game. People have to be more patient and bring their expectations to reality and away from NHL12. - JoeRussomanno

I've got my inside man on the team working on it. He's going to follow JVR and get to the bottom of this.

He has a purpose. I just disagree that it's a necessary purpose to have a player signed for.
The debate shouldn't be Shelley. Because Shelley's irrelevant. His cap hit isn't stopping them from making a move, or anything else. The debate should be, do they need to carry an enforcer.
My answer to that is no. My opinion would be the same whether the enforcer in question was named Jody Shelley, Steven MacIntyre, George Parros or George Laraque. - Jsaquella
If they need an enforcer, use Sestito. He really impressed me |

I seriously doubt he's faking it. In fact I'd be more of a mind he was fighting through this for a while amongst other injuries. If anything he might have been trying to hang tough for the team to trade him, can't trade anyone out with injury. He's a team player and one we as fans should covet. If my theory is correct the deal w/e it was to trade him fell through and Homer went ahead came out with this. Hopefully i am wrong. |

The other question you could ask is if your going to have an enforcer do you need to sign him for three years at a $1.1M cap hit. |

voice of reason, I like the way you think - bigmookalookie
I look at it this way-
-Does adding a Gleason, Gill or Beauchemin significantly improve your odds against the Bruins, or even the Rangers? Probably not.
-Does adding a Suter or Weber? Maybe, if you don't have to surrender too much. But that's not realistic. You're not going to get guys like that without paying a ton, which weakens the roster.
-How do you feel about the young talent? I happen to thing that there's a TON of young talent on hand, and that it could have a nice, long window as a contender. Why trade a Harry Zolnierczyk, along with a second, for Gleason?
Injuries could create a role for him, and he could develop into a good player. There's no need to "do him a favor" and deal him to a place where he will play. Had they not done that for Patrick Sharp, they might still have him.
Now, I am not saying that Scrabble will someday be a 40 goal scorer, but overpaying fro a guy that doesn't significantly improve the team is dumb IMO.

No. But here's my follow up, what move has Shelley's cap hit prevented the team from making?
There's not a single trade or move to improve the team that having Shelley signed for that amount has prevented. When that happens, his cap hit will be a concern to me. |

It's a real coup having a player that not one of the other teams in the League would have an ounce of interest in. Those are the best kind of guys to have. - PLindbergh31
The Flyers have two and both are signed next season as well.
I only mention this because I'd really appreciate if the Flyers thought long and hard before signing/traded players to 3 year deals who are borderline at best NHL players. |

Take Shelley out of the equation period. Could they have signed an enforcer for cheaper who might actually get on the ice more? The cap space hasnt held them back from doing anything but that doesnt mean you have to spend it to spend it. |

agree 100%, If the Flyers can get Gleason or Beauchemin for a good deal, go for it but if the price is too high let it ride. If they do trade for Gleason so thinking will have the Flyers trying to resign the guy after the season is over but that is just me |

Sestito did play solidly in his brief call up. He looked like a mess in pre-season, lot of running around and poor positional play.
But, if the coach isn't playing the enforcer, is it better that the guy sitting is Jody Shelley or a developing young player? If Lava was using Shelley regularly, then bringing up Sestito would be a better route to take. |
