The Rangers have paid 13M to Redden to play in the AHL for the last two years. And they still owe him 10M more. The Flyers total is a drop in the bucket. - MJL
one bad mistake no doubt by the Rangers and Avery makes 2.
3 mistakes by the Flyers, not the same money but the Flyers missed on 3 and Shelley would make 4.

that's 4 misses though.
I have no clue but does any team have 3 NHL contracts in the minors and maybe a 4th if they need cap space?
I know the Rangers have 2 for sure - Buts16
I'm sure that Holmgren told Snider at the time that the deal for Walker could end up being buried, and I'm sure that Snider recognizes the cuircumstances with the others.
And if he had an issue with it, I'm sure he'd say so. And his "indulgence" of them, probably enabled Holmgren to make the moves. |

Thats the thing. Shelleys contract doesnt hurt your cap if you need to add someone but it still is a bad signing to sign an enforcer at that cap hit. The Flyers still have to pay him. We could have alot of cap space if we moved any player down that doesnt have a NMC. By sending a player down (to me) seems like your admitting to a mistake you made.
I dont think the way im describing it is coming out right, but im too lazy to keep writing about it. |

Admitting a mistake is the first step to correcting it. Rather have a GM who can say, yeah, I (frank)ed up, let's fix it, than one who refuses to face the facts. |

Oh I agree. I really cant explain my "purpose" through the internet. So the way its being typed and being perceived is different then my actual thought process. I know sounds crazy. |

Honestly, who cares that a GM admits a mistake and sends a player down to the AHL? I care about who is on the Flyers. The contract spot is an issue. But the money and the Cap hit is a total non issue. |

Don't get me wrong Homer and company have made a ton of good trades/signings and deserve props.
I just hate some of the moves and some are glaringly bad. |

It can be hard to fully state a full opinion on a board, especially on a difficult topic...I do get what you are saying, though. |

I do see both sides on the signing. While it doesnt really effect the cap space bc he can be moved, it still ties up a contract. I just dont think by saying "hey we can send him down to clear space " sounds like a positive signing. Not saying that is your opinion though. |

any concern on Bryz not being at the morning skate? Or is that an inaccurate tweet? |

What's the bad move of the day? The sky isn't falling in Flyerdom because we signed Shelley a year and half ago to 1.1M. Then whether or not Bryzgalov was a bad signing has yet to be seen. The fact that we have a number of rookies taking on huge roles for this team and still contending tells me all I need to know about the Management and Coaching Staff of the Philadelphia Flyers. If we can get away from overpaying, I'm sure that would help but Homer has put together some fantastic contracts as well (Giroux's deal right now and Coburn's first deal with the Flyers). |

$6.55mm of cap space-in full year hits.
That's about $2mm north of what the Flyers can take on. - Jsaquella

In the big picture, the really aren't glaringly bad. Be thankful that the team you root for has the financial backing to fix those mistakes. A lot of teams have to live with those mistakes on the Cap on the NHL roster. You want a glaringly bad mistake? trading for Gomez by the Habs and having to keep him on the roster. How'd you like to have that Cap anchor? That's a glaringly bad mistake. The Flyers mistakes are petty.

I'm sure even the Flyers band of Clueless media guys are capable of counting how many goalies are on the ice. Or, am I giving them too much credit? |

Hawks lucky to get a point (or more) out of this one though. 2 flukey goals. But they all count I guess. |
