If Carle stays, he will get a raise. He's not getting less than Coburn, IMO, probably more. - Jsaquella
See you later Carle. Noway the Flyers should pay him $5M+ |

so on an average....
weber-7.5
suter- 6.5
carle-5.5
so now whos is the best value?
weber will cost the most in a trade and thats the only way to get him cuz of his rfa status
suter will cost a nhl'er, prospect and a high draft pick (at deadline)
carle wont cost us any bodies unless we have to dump to fit him - mydoglicks

Suter may not cost anything but salary. UFA.

You can also wait and see if Suter hits Free Agency. |

I hope TooToo in the lineup doesn't make Lava think he needs Rinaldo or heaven bid Shelley, Rinaldo would not fair well against Toots.
You hit the nail on the head with this blog Bill.
The Preds are a beatable team but they are a very well coached team that will keep playing all night.
I'm sure many Flyers fans are sick of all the chatting on here about Weber/Suter. Fans who aren't very familiar with them will get see why there is such an out-pouring of love on here for them, those 2 are dandy Dman.
Bob or Bryz will need to play excellent tonight. - Buts16
I'd like to see Rinaldo back in the lineup. Seems like when he's out the Flyers play a bit on the soft side, more often than not, like vs. the Isles. |

i did edit but hit post instead, he wont cost anything if he hits the ufa market, but there is a good chance he gets shopped at the deadline if a deal is not reached |

Your replacing Carle with Weber, so you don't need another defenseman. And you move Read back up into the top 9, and add Rinaldo to the lineup. And your also left with the ability to add a player with a 2.4M Cap hit at the deadline, with another move to add to that space available if they need to. - MJL

So what? I dont think hes a $5M+ player. Thats my opinion. He may get that on the open market but that dont mean the Flyers have to be the ones to pay it. |

There is a chance. But there is a real danger in trading top assets for Suter.

Carle makes many subtle plays that stifle zone pressure...the anti-lilja. |

i would rather wait if its possible till the offseason to try and get suter, then to trade away anybody right now.
all of our holes seemed to be filled out good, just missing pronger to put us over the edge and to give us a chance against boston.

This an interesting phenomenon on Hockeybuzz. Praising a player with negativity on another.

right now all we can hope for it seems is that pronger can get healthy for a playoff run, and thats a big if...but that would be sweet! |

Anything can happen in a 7 game Series. But our chances against Boston aren't good even with Pronger.

I think he would have helped the team have a grittier approach. Would he have been a cure all? Of course not. But a little extra emotion and rambunctious play would have been a good thing. |

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, I Love Suter, but why he's earmarked for $7 or $6.5 million a year?
he does play a lot of minutes, but is around 40 points a year & under 10 goals, (good, solid, but not spectacular)
I don't get why he's a shade under Weber who can command more, but a lot of guys saying Carle isn't worth 5 but Suter is worth 7, there numbers aren't that different |

It wouldn't have changed anything. I like Rinaldo and what he brings, but he's not that effective of a player.

The situation with Weber and Suter, is that they WANT to be in Nashville, but they are waiting to see if Poile signs any offensive firepower or not. That's the deal breaker in this situation. If Poile doesn't grow some and go out and get a good forward for this team, expect both Suter and Weber to either be traded, or land on another team next season. |

My favorite path is trading for a cheap, solid replacement defenseman to stabilize what we have now, then try really hard to land Suter in the summer. If you get a guy like Gleason or Beauchemin, who will resign to a cap friendly hit, you could keep him and let Carle walk and go get Suter as a UFA.
I just don't want to see a bad trade made, regardless of who it brings in. |

Different systems and different talent. Nashville dont have half the scorers the Flyers have. Your going to be able to get more points if your team scores more. |

Anyone who says that Carle isn't worth 5M simply isn't objective and isn't looking at it reasonably. All the information points to Carle being a 5M player.

You all aren't getting Weber. Sorry.
But you get the pleasure of seeing Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi as well tonight. They have looked very good. Killer on the PP as well. Hope you all are disciplined since for some miracle, the Preds are #2 PP in the league
very happy to see Kimmo and Hartnell back home. They will be cheered again. |
