Carle doesn't get lost in the defensive zone often. That's inaccurate. Carle's defensive positioning is sound. The fact that he leads the team in blocked shots shows how good his positioning is. Carle rarely blows a defensive assignment. Handles the puck under pressure extremely well. And is having a very, very strong year. And is going to earn a very good deal with whoever he is playing with next Season. What he lacks in physical size, he more then makes up for it with his other skills.

I couldn't disagree with you more. He's having one of his worst defensive years to date. He's a +2.

Last year he was a +30
Year before +19
Year before that +2

Guess we can now argue the importance of +/- now...

I can only imagine that the Flyers brass sees what i see... why else would he go so long without a contract extension?

Is the only factor in a player signing a contract extension what the team wants to do? Or does the player also have a say?
I guess Nashville doesn't think that Suter and Weber are any good either, because why are they waiting so long to sign them to a contract extension?
Carle is having an outstanding year. And is going to earn a nice contract somewhere.

Not sure what you want me to say....

I disagree with you. If you can't handle that, then move on.

Cause i am.

It has nothing to do with handling it. It has to do with the reality that Carle is having a very good Season, including playing solidly defensively. In fact watching his overall play, he's never been better in his own end then he has this year in my opinion. And is getting better and better.

Offense wise he's having a good year.

Defensively i couldn't disagree more. His coverage in front of the net leaves a ton to be desired for me.

I'd be willing to part with JVR and Schenn for Weber, but at the same time I'd hate to see both of them go.

You have to give to get though.

However, Couts is off-limits. That goes without saying for G.

I disagree. He's using body position better then he ever has in sealing players off along the wall on rushes. For a smaller player, he wins the majority of puck battles down low in the zone, and then makes an very good first pass out of his zone to move the puck the other way. His decision making has improved, as he has cut down on his giveaways, with only 27 giveaways in 47 games. Which is an area he's been given a lot of criticism over. Which is huge as puck management is one of the biggest issues facing the team. He has stepped up his game in the absence of Chris Pronger resulting in him frequently leading all defenseman on his team in ice time.

I'm with you man. I don't want to see schenn or JVR leave, i'd love to see what they will turn into. But the idea of getting Weber beats that for me.

I wouldn't trade them for Suter.

I think it would take more on top of JVR and Schenn.

Agreed. Probably a 1st round pick as well.

Or something like a 2nd and a prospect.

Since Pronger has come out of the line up, Carle has played in 20 games.

He's been a minus player in 7 of them. A plus in 6 of them. Even in 7 of them.

The teams he was minus against:
Nsh, Ott, Col, Bos, TB, NYR, Wpg

The teams he was a plus against:
Car, NYI, Wash, Mon, TB, Car

The teams he was a minus against are ranked as followed in overall points:
Nash 10th
Ott 8th
Col 15th
Bos 5th
TB 27th
NYR 1st
Wpg 22nd

The teams he was plus against are ranked as follwed in overall points:
Car 25th
NYI 26th
Wash 18th
Mon 24th
TB 27th
Car 25th

There would be a bidding war for Weber. And I could see Nashville wanting a top young defenseman as part of the deal.

Most likely it would, depending on how contract talks are going at the time of the trade. If it looks like he won't resign, the price will come down a little, if they can resign him the price will be higher.

I think there are other teams that have more to offer though then the flyers for a player like Weber.

Now let's do what needs to be done to look deeper. Let's look at the goals scored when Carle is on the ice, and see what goals he was responsible for. Where he made a coverage mistake, or a turnover, leading to a goal.

I do feel bad for the guy. He wants to win. He's been a pretty good team guy with taking the bench in stride.

The defense isn't as tight as it was in Phx. I also don't see him challenging shooters like he did in the past. Nabakov did a good job challenging shooters the last time we played the Islanders.

If Nashville resigns him, they won't be trading him. The only reason they would trade him, is that they can't resign him.

And as long as Nashville make a Q offer to him, which they will, they retain his rights. And even if he's unsigned during the Summer, it won't affect what they get for him.

Man i would love too. But lets be honest, even if i discover that he was a complete joke in the defensive end, you would argue that it wasn't his fault.

We all know how this goes.

So you're saying if he comes out and says to the media that he wants out, his price won't drop? Just like if he comes out and says he wants to stay, it wouldn't rise?

I don't think so.

Looked to me like ellis tried to deliver a check by going at Simmonds hip. Marchand's hit was going for the knees and if im not mistaken caused an injury. .
