Whatever, I don't care. You don't have to do goals for the Flyers. You said he's having a good offensive year, but is playing poorly defensively. So only need to look at goals against. - MJL
But he might have gotten pluses for just being on the ice for a goal scored and having nothing to do with the goal.
Same for defenseivly. He might have been on the ice for a goal that wasn't his fault but recorded a minus.

if Matt shaub was healthy, the texans win this game. I love how physical both of these teams are...esp on defense. |

It was closer to mid-thigh, but it was a good open ice hit.
I love a good old fashioned hip check. Don't see enough of 'em anymore. - tangent_man
THen why should there be an outcry if simmonds was hurt? Ellis is 510 and Simmonds is 6ft. He can't leave his feet to hit him either. I think he did the best he could to deliver a physical hit without being malicious. It's just laws of physics that Simmonds went end over end like that by colliding at such an angle with an opponent that has a lower center of gravity. |

Forget +/-. I'm just interested in looking at Carle's play defensively when goals were scored when he was on the ice. Because you said he was a poor defensive player.

Jake v for schenn ?? What do you think - griouxmvp2012
Burke wants JvR. Burke likes the North American, tough style of play. As crazy as this may sound because we watch JvR and Voracek on a regular basis but JvR is the bigger name. He was drafted higher and probably has the higher upside. I'm sure whoever made the call, JvR was brought up by name. It will take JvR to get Schenn. |

I didn't say there should be an outcry; just that we might have heard one.

I agree but he's still considered a Power Forward. Only those who watch JvR are on a regular basis probably know this. |

Lets save this debate for another time. I will gladly go thru them all with you.
But it will be easier when i have the strength to debate it further. Having the flu doesn't make this fun.

LOL, but you are right. It would be a long thread to look at every goal. Not fair to everyone.

Carle doesn't get lost in the defensive zone often. That's inaccurate. Carle's defensive positioning is sound. The fact that he leads the team in blocked shots shows how good his positioning is. Carle rarely blows a defensive assignment. Handles the puck under pressure extremely well. And is having a very, very strong year. And is going to earn a very good deal with whoever he is playing with next Season. What he lacks in physical size, he more then makes up for it with his other skills. - MJL
I think a lot of of folks take Carle and what he brings to the team completely for granted, simply because he isn't a dazzling player or big point producer. He very rarely coughs up the puck in the D-zone, and even when it does happen, he's extraordinarily good at getting back to where he needs to be. It's as much of a skill as stickhandling, hitting, and passing is. Surely, there are parts of his game that leave something to be desired (*cough*limpwristshotfromthepoint*cough* ) , but that's the case for any player in the NHL.
Fact is, if Carle to were leave in the offseason and an adequate replacement wasn't found, his skill set would be sorely missed. |

Yea but If he took a shot to the head isn't it NHL protocol to do some baseline testing |

Carle has his weaknesses for sure. His lack of a good hard shot is one of them. If Carle was 6'3" 220 with a good hard point shot, combined with his actual good all around game, he'd be a top pair defenseman that we would have a hard time affording. But he's not. |
