Carle has his weaknesses for sure. His lack of a good hard shot is one of them. If Carle was 6'3" 220 with a good hard point shot, combined with his actual good all around game, he'd be a top pair defenseman that we would have a hard time affording. But he's not.

My wrist shot from the point makes Carle's slapper look bad, poor guy has the second weakest shot in the league.

Jim Matheson this morning:

I know the Philadelphia Flyers aren’t thrilled with Ilya Bryzgalov — they think he talks too much, and his stats are certainly far from $10 million a year worthy (3.07 goals-against average, .891 save percentage) — but did they not do their due diligence. Bryzgalov is off-the-wall; he’s a character. He is who he is (he was one of the stars on the 24-7 HBO show), and now the Flyers want to limit him to two-minute sound bites with the media. He is not worth that kind of dough (who is?), but he’s a good goalie. He has only played four games since Christmas. Ride him, like the Coyotes did, even if one New York Rangers player said “it looks like he’s fighting every shot, a sure sign of a guy with no confidence.” You can’t decide now you like backup Sergei Bobrovsky more.

interesting, even if I don't agree w/ all of it.

Hartnell has pointed out he's a little weak in the wrists on twitter.

Hopefully the stars will align in the universe and Bryz will start dreaming of stopping pucks for a living instead of star gazing or running lost in the woods.

Certainly some questionable commentary there. What makes me laugh the most is that mostly everyone, the media, the fans, people on the internet, all knew what Bryzgalov's personality is. But the Flyers don't. They didn't do their "due diligence" there. I think it's clear when a media type makes that statement, who didn't do thier "due diligence"

Despite all the Carle bashing he was a good partner for Pronger and played that role well. He just is out of place when not paired with a star like Pronger. I mean who would not look better paired with Pronger.

Carle has elevated his game this year in the absence of Pronger. Last year, when Pronger was out, Carle's numbers were better without Pronger, then with him. Carle wouldn't be leading all Flyers defenseman in icetime if he was struggling without Pronger.

I think you meant their due and not thier for what it is worth.

That being said whatever Matheson said means Sweet FA. If Bryz was totally an alien or something but was stopping the pucks who would really care what planet he came from.

To say the Flyers did not do their due diligence is retarded. Anyone who says so is a retard. I told you this would start to be a "thing" after Seravelli so irresponsibly said it on DNL.

Give me a break.

This is nonsense. Carle has been very good for most of the season and Pronger has been no where to be found.

That matter could be seriously debated but in the meantime I think some effort should be made to acquire a guy like Luke Schenn. Not only would he bring some stability and toughness to the D he would also maybe give his younger brother a better chance of making it. Brayden could use a boost and Luke could be the key.

It can't be seriously debated that Carle has struggled without Pronger. The facts say otherwise.
I'm on board with acquiring Schenn if the Flyers think he is the right peice.

Anything can be debated. Doesn't mean there is any truth to it. The fact is that Carle has been very good this year and last year regardless of whether Pronger has been in the lineup.

Where have you been since Pronger was signed here? Pronger and Carle had beeen paired together most of the time since Pronger became a flyer. It is a fact that Carle played his best hockey when he was paired with Prongs. That is when Pronger first came and was healthy.

This is such bull plop. Did they expect him to play better... yes.. do they not like him cause he's strange? laughable. Look at Esche. If the guy is playing well, and the team is winning.. there's not a lot of worries.

As a Flyerfan what do you think the team needs to address at this time. The deadline is six weeks away and I prefer to move early is moving at all. The pricing at the deadline sometimes becomes a bidding war. Who do you think should be starting in goal right now for the best interest of the team?

Where have you been to not know that up to this point in the Season, between this year and last. Carle has played 62 games without Chris Pronger? As I said earlier, last Season Carle had better numbers without Pronger then with him. There have been numerous articles written of how well Carle has played with out Pronger.

MJL I am a teaser and was just pulling you leg, I try and have a little fun on here. Fundamentally I agree with most of everything you say. Once in awhile I think you are always too serious but that is okay too and it our opinions on here that make HB worth while. I enjoy reading every post and after reading it I get to understand what the writer is all about. Everyone has an opinion whether you or I agree with what they scribble.

Therein is a part of the root of the flyers problem. Carle. A solid 3/4 defenseman type. Is leading a d corp in mins. He's a solid defensemen having a very good year. Doesn't mean the flyers don't need an upgrade

They need a replacement for Pronger long term if he isn't going to play again. And if Carle isn't going to be back, they need a replacement for him long term.

I guess I was too busy watching Giroux to Jagr to Hartnell, back to Giroux, he scores

Or mabe watching Bob make another huge save, Carle is just average and does not excite me that much.
