What have you been watching, .921 save percentage, 10w 3 losses, tracking the puck well, making glove saves he wasn't making last year. Overall he is growing into a star netminder and will be traded sooner or later. He will not sign after next year when he is a ufa to be Bryz's backup. The flyers will trade him before he hits ufa status. - flyerdude17
Bobrovsky will not be a UFA after next Season. He will not be a UFA until after the 15/16 Season. He will have little choice but to resign with the FLyers after 12/13.

I'm not interested in coddling Brygalov and telling him he's the man, so he decides to play like he's capable of. I want him to seize the job and take it and prove he's the man. Rather then to just stroke him with what he right now, doesn't deserve.
Bobrovsky does have weaknesses to his game. But his game is better then Bryzgalov's right now - MJL
I see nothing wrong with the fans or management coddling the guy. Who cares how you get the guy to play. If his ego/mentality requires positive reinforcement and sticking with him in net during rough stretched, I'm all for it.
The contract that he was handed was not a "fight tough and you'll earn this job". It was an investment and either way you slice it, you're not going to have your franchise goalie warming the bench. If I have to watch him shi*t away 5-10 games, I'll do it begrudgingly if it means that he will eventually get into a comfort zone and revert back to his Phoenix form. It could just be my personality, but if this guy is not responding to tough love, put the gloves back on and stroke his ego, do whatever it takes.
We've seen what this guy looks like at the top of his game; he carried thin Coyotes' teams to the playoffs and put them on his back. Imagine what he could do with a deep and talented Flyers squad..... |

Bob was signed as an UFA to a three year deal. This is year two and after next season unless he is resigned before will become an UFA again. He will not be a RFA. |

Mike Smith is also carrying a thin Coyote team. What if Bryz does not recover and loses enough till we miss the playoffs? It is a bad situation for him and the flyers but we need the points and if Bob is getting them that is all that matters. That is is Bryz is not getting them. |

I believe the U in your first reference stands for 'undrafted'. He will be RFA after this deal is up.

Yes, he has more experience. But he still seems to make a lot of the same mistakes he was making last year (making himself small in the net, going down too early, giving up the soft goal at the worst time). I think he's a little better than last year, but not so much that I'm ready to make him the number one.
Anyway, I've said what I would do if it was up to me. If others don't agree, that's fine. I think the facts, and the history of Bryz as a player support what I am suggesting. But it's by no means a sure thing. It's a tough situation. I'll be hoping whatever Laviolette does works, even if he doesn't do what I think he should. - BringBack25
i disagree that he's making a lot of the same mistakes. sometimes? sure. a lot? not imho. he's staying on his feet longer, and making himself bigger - the penalty shot save against grabner is a prime example. he's widened his butterfly a bit which seems contrary to staying up and being bigger, but it's working. his puck handling is also better - and certainly more confident. he's improved a lot.
bryz has to find a way to start making these deflection saves or lava's eventually going to stop playing him, as bob's been the better goalie from camp straight through to this point, and the team needs to win. if bob gives them a better chance at this point - and in the playoffs - so be it. |

I may be wrong but I thought entry level contracts referred to draft picks. For example Karlsson of Calgary was signed as a UFA. When last season ended he became a ufa and was signed as one. Why would Bob not be the same> Could cap geek be wrong? Just wondering |

In my opinion there is a big difference between coddling and offering support and positive reinforcement. I'm at the point where he has to start earning playing time.

Incorrect. You might want to invest some time and read the CBA. A player is eligible to be a UFA when he has played 7 Accrued Seasons, or is 27 years of age.

I was really hoping Bob played well this season and pushed Bryz.
He's playing well, I have no clue what's going on with Bryz.
I keep thinking OK here we go, he's ready to break out and then boom he's not. He's gotta get it going and quickly. |

He's thinking too much. Just go out there and focus, don't feel bad about letting the fans down.

Thanks for setting me straight. This has caught me totally off guard and I apologize for stating he would be a ufa.
Either way though he will probably be traded as I am sure his aspirations are to be a starter in the nhl. |

The Flyers are going to do what is best for the team. They aren't going to trade Bobrovsky just because he wants to be a starter in the NHL.
