No but wouldn't some teams just like to remove them period and pay a lump sump of what's left of the deal and have zero cap hit.
And I don't think that would happen in the next CBA but it's something that could at the very least be discussed. - ob18
That's where you get into things like HRR's and what the CBA was really put into place for.

One would hope. It is just that to me it seems that the vast majority of goals he DOES let up are goals that no goalie would stop, yet he is still being benched because of it. That would wear on me as well.
But on the flip side, impossible saves are what separates a franchise goalie from a regular goalie. And he needs to make one every now and then. At least, make more than he has so far. - MBFlyerfan
pucks are going through him, and he's not making enough "momentum" saves. he needs to start making them. |

Fair enough... but i think whats getting him are the goals that he should stop that he isn't.
He hasn't had a lot of chances on the goals that have gone in for the most part.

The contract is counted towards the cap during the offseason. Only when the season starts does that players cap hit go onto LTIR.
Or am i wrong? I thought u can't spend LTIR money during the off season? - archion113
Your correct. That's why there is the 10% off season adjustment.

Not really. If it doesn't apply to you don't get all up in arms either. But Im sorry the short time I've been posting here I see some people say some really dumb things and he blows their argument up like a house of cards then they resort to passive aggressive insults that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. - JoeRussomanno

Witty slogans aside, I think it's pretty clear that this situation is not as black-and-white as you are making it out to be. If they need to spoon-feed him some wins in order to build confidence, it can go a long way and attribute to a stronger mentality in the future which will "breed" success. - steelydan
We're at the point where they can't put one player before the team. It's not fair to the other players to try and spoon feed him some wins, if he's not playing well enough to justify putting him in the lineup. I don't disregard the point that he is going to have to play his way out of it. But playing less starts then Bryzgalov didn't stop Bobrovksy from playing well and earning more playing time.

Yeah, he just seems baffled. I'd like to think I I am a pretty good reader of people, and right now, every time I see Bryz he just seems depressed and at a loss to figure out what he can actually do other than play through it, but is frustrated because he isn't being allowed to play through it like in his past.

THe only problem I have with that is I think he is making those saves but b/c of the poor play in front maybe he's being asked to make too many. |

Tons of pressure going to a big Hockey market, expecting him to be the Goalie Savior and solidify the position, and live up to that contract. I still fully beleive that he will come out of it at some point and play as he can.

It's really a formula involving a lot of components. The Flyers have gone from being a decent defensive team, to being a poor defensive team, in the last month or so. |

perhaps. the team has to learn to play better defensively. missing pronger doesn't help their cause. |

Pro sports is never about being fair. Never has been. It's about doing what's best for the team. I'm not necessarily saying we need to spoon feed him some wins (I'm not even sure I know what that means). I am saying they need to tell him he's playing, and that he'll still be playing even if he has a bad game or lets in a soft goal. They need to let him play his way out of this, and not have him feeling like every mistake on his part is going to land him on the bench. If that is "spoon feeding", then I'm all for it.
As for fairness, that doesn't enter into it imo. Our best chance for short and long term success is with Bryz playing well. We need to do whatever it takes to make that happen. And if that means not always rewarding Bob with another game when he plays well, then so be it. Bob's time will come. Now, for better or worse, it's all about Bryz. |

so do I.
He has to be better but he's had some tough luck as well. I thought maybe after the 1st Ottawa game last week he was righting the ship but it wasn't to be.
Maybe a big win at home this week with the crowd in his corner will do the trick, I'm certainly hoping that will happen.
