We talked about this before many times and how the NHL salary structure works. Giroux is on his first deal out of his EL deal. If Giroux was to resign right now, what would he get? Is JVR a 4.25M player next year? Is he a player this year, that warrants a 4.25M deal? So why did he get it? Voracek isn't going to sign a multi year deal for a paltry raise.
NHL salaries are not black and white in comparing players and how good they are compared to each other. - MJL
I see it like this. Voracek is in line for a better season than he had last year.. although his pace is for 12 goals and 38 assists. They are not terrible numbers, and the assists do jump out at you. With that being said, he signed a one year deal for 2.25 this season.. this seasons pace is not all that better than what he did last season |

I'm not Team Bob or Team Bryz, but Team Flyers. However, in the Bob has only had success against the "bottom feeders" argument - you have to take a look at the flip side of the coin. Bryzgalov has been torched by some of these lowly teams. In fact he got run out of the net the last time he started against the Islanders. - BoomGoesTheCoburn
Bryzgalov has struggled, against teams both good and bad. No question there.
The only reason I bring up Bobrovsky playing (mostly) bad teams is to say that he needs to play against more good teams. If Bryzgalov can't rebound and Bobrovsky has to go, there's not going to be any Carolinas or Isles in the playoffs. |

And when he had those 6 starts in a row, including playing two back to back situations, what were his numbers? Yea they won, but if were just going by wins, then there's no problem. As he's only 2 wins out of being in the top 10 in the NHL among Goalies. Bryzgalov has gotten almost twice as many starts as Bobrovsky has gotten. He's gotten more then enough starts to prove himself. Like I said, I have no problem letting him keep starting. But if I was making the decision, Bobrovsky would be getting more starts, and were going to play whoever is playing better. - MJL
are you seriously asking that question... after how many times where you said you cant look at numbers? |

Carle in my mind is doing what Timonen is doing. Making plays from the blue line. Not much of a difference between Carle and Timonen in my opinion on the PP. - Schenn2shine
There is a huge difference between Carle and Timonen on the PP. Timonen is among the League leaders in PP points among D men. Carle isn't

I don't recall saying that exactly, but I'll take your word for it. I know what my opinion is, and what it's based on. If you want to challenge it, then go ahead and do so and make a point. Things change over the course of a Season. What your willing to do and how you handle something in Oct, Nov, and how you handle it in Jan and later in the Season are different. As the circumstances change, an opinion changes. There is more data to consider, and more games have been played. Really a simple concept.
And if need be, I'll gladly review the basics of my opinion, and how it has evolved, from the beginning of the Season until now. |

I agree with you. Like you said, I'd give Bob a shot at the Boston's of the league. Of course, if that does happen, you'd have the Philadelphia Clown Crew spinning a story about how Bryzgalov is too fragile mentally to handle the tougher teams. |

That's when the goalie has to forget the media and focus on his job. He has to worry about what he can do and can impact, not what he can't. |

I'm afraid there is. For as good as Carle is offensively at ES. PP point production is a weakness for him. One of the areas he needs to improve on. I don't think he's terrible. But he isn't as good as Timonen is.

Vigneault started Schneider over Luongo in Boston recently. Now Schneider is from the Boston area, but still........
I think the goaltending situations in Philly and VanCity are very, very similar. Fans here will rip on Luongo as much as Flyer fans rip on Bryz. |
