Vigneault started Schneider over Luongo in Boston recently. Now Schneider is from the Boston area, but still........
I think the goaltending situations in Philly and VanCity are very, very similar. Fans here will rip on Luongo as much as Flyer fans rip on Bryz. - rockychocbill

He was giving up 2 or three, usually, early on. Recently, it's been 3 and 4. We could, theoretically, go deeper and figure out how many were bad goals or teammates deflections or screens, but I have neither the time nor the will.
I was merely stating my case, as were you. Laviolette's gonna do it his way, no matter what we think. We can only hope it works out. - tangent_man
I'm not saying what I think should be done is the magic answer either. I truly don't know. Bobrovsky could get more starts and as he plays against tougher opponents as the Season goes on, and teams start ramping it up, he could falter also. Right now, I just play who is playing better. And who earns the next start and go from there.

luongo doesn't consistently lose to "deflections" |

I'm afraid there is. For as good as Carle is offensively at ES. PP point production is a weakness for him. One of the areas he needs to improve on. I don't think he's terrible. But he isn't as good as Timonen is. - MJL
It's known to everyone that Carle doesn't have a very strong shot but 3 of his 4 goals have come from the Power play. Assists on the other hand isn't exactly something he can control if he doesn't have a strong shot. |

The opportunities are there to make passing plays to get assists on the PP.

Sure there are but Matt Carle isn't as good as Kimmo Timonen. I don't think anyone was ever assuming that he was. I don't think playing along side JvR helps his case.
Keep from prolonging this debate, I'll agree with you but I'll say this. If this is one of Matt Carle's current weaknesses, what does this say for Peter Laviolette's decision making with the Power Play? I've been wondering all season why JvR is being used in that position and Meszaros isn't. |

Even though it's a weakness in Carle's game, and he needs to improve there. With the loss of Pronger, what are the other choices? And are those choices better then Carle?

Kind of agree on that, JVR at the point was a little baffling with Mez on the bench, JVR's frame should be around that net, or slot area at least |

Its too early to panic on Bryzgalov (and his contract). - stveshdy
sure it is we paid for a goalie that should steal us games not give them away
until we get what we paid for he deserves to be poop on |

we have 3 D men who are pretty good at the point, PP wise they each bring a different element, (except for Cobie) |

Here are their numbers from last season. Considering the teams they were on, there is not a huge difference imo.
11 Roberto Luongo GS=60 W=38 L=15 OTL=7 GA=126 GAA=2.11 Sv=1627 Sv%=.928 SO=4
23 Ilya Bryzgalov GS=67 W=36 L=20 OTL=10 GA=168 GAA=2.48 Sv=1957 Sv%=.921 SO=7 |

The thing that killed me is, JvR has a good slap shot, but he hardly has time to get it off in game action.
It's like playing a guy at fullback because he has a great arm. How often is a Fullback going to throw the ball? |

Is that your answer to everything? Lets just poop on the player and he hasnt even played a full season yet, makes sense to me.
