He say that Reese told him to expect 60 games for Bryzgalov. - tangent_man
That would mean Bobrovsky would only have 8 more starts the rest of the Season. |

I misread his line on cap geek...That's still more time than I'd be comfortable with. He did play well with Mike Green as his partner. I'd rather have a guy like Gleason or Beauchemin, who they can decide if they want to extend after the season, though. - Jsaquella

Laviolette said that Bryzgalov has gotten the majority of the starts so far and that isn't going to change in the second half. - Jsaquella
Ya. Well Bob has already started 14 games this season. If they are saying the target number for Bryz is 60, that means Bob only has another 8 starts the rest of the way. Doubtful imo. My guess is it'll be more like 55/27.

Well here's what Tim wrote about what Reese said.
Theoretically, he could still get 64 starts, but that won’t happen. The Flyers have six pairs of back-to-back games, so we’re really only talking about 33 games left in which Bryz can work. That adds up to 63 starts.
Reese thinks even that number is too high.
“I’d like to keep him under 60 so he is fresh and hungry and ready for the long grind of the playoffs,” Reese said. |

WHy is everyone so up in arms about Bob not getting that many starts? Pelle Lindbergh rode the pine for a few years before he got the nod. The kid has time. He's a RFA after next season so the Flyers have all the leverage they need to keep him for another 3-4 years at which time they should know full well if he is what we expect. Stop trying so hard to will your fantasy clubs to a championship and calm down. |

It's become hard to clear the porch in today's NHL. Refs call too many penalties for roughing or cross-checking on what used to be let go. Also, the types of defensemen that do it well -- the Derian Hatcher or Jason Smith types -- are often considered too slow to keep up with the speed of the game today against other teams' top scoring lines. If the Flyers went in that direction, the complaints would shift back to "this D is too slow."
Also, Coburn and Meszaros are pretty strong down low when they are on their games.
More than anything else, I think the Flyers need fewer turnovers on attempting clearing passes and consistent commitment to team D -- which is as much on the forwards as the defensemen. |

If the Flyers can make a trade for a player that is more valuable than letting a young goalie develop into an elite, then ok. Otherwise I think they are best served by being patient with him as they did in the past with another Vezina winner. |

Or they can trade him for a guy who has been out with a concussion for two weeks, like Victor Hedman |

It drives me nuts when these guys play a great game and then two days later look like the 1992-93 Flyers running around. |

Your a Godsend Bill. I've trying to get this point across for days. You can't do what you used to be able to do. Your last paragraph is what needs to improve. You clear the porch in today's game by keeping the puck away from the front of the net.

If you believe bobrovsky cannot supplant him as starter before that time and Bryzgalov will be here the length of the deal, I think you're underestimating the creativity of the Flyer front office. |

So, the focus comes onto the goalie then... and the goalie being able to stop the puck right?
