Even though Bob has played against "bottom feeders" he still had no easy task, I think the Islanders & Canes each launched close to 35 shots apiece? So he had a full nights work.
Caroline had close to 50 shats a Vokoun last night, (good to Skinner back on a separate note for the Canes) |

Homer should be able to address the team needs in the draft, with the way Bryz and the D is playing I dont see the flyers doing anything this year - vejim
Just a few weeks ago they were top of the NHL (or battling for top).. now we are casting the remaining 3 months of the season + playoffs aside.. Sweet. |

with lavys hybrid lock system do you believe that no matter who we could bring in would help our current problems of not clogging the neautral zone?
is our d a victim of the system? - mydoglicks
The team defense is not a victim of the system. Regardless of what system is used, if it's played well and executed, it will work. Laviolette's system is not one that I prefer. I like parts of it. But the Team D is a victim of poor puck management, and blown coverages and breakdowns.

Just wanted to say something while sifting thru yesterdays thread. Im surprised at all the Carle hate that has continued this yr. If you honestly feel Carle is struggling, or can't compete since he doesn't have Pronger to lean on, you really aren't paying attention to the fine details in Carle's game. Hes having an outstanding yr and has had very few poor games. He's a very close 2nd behind Timonen as our best dman this yr. A case could even be made he's been their best w his defensive stick work and outlet passing.
Step up your game peeps. Carle will get a hefty raise nxt yr. I hope we find a way to keep him for affordable money - SeaIslelandLush
That's just the way it's always going to be around here. And to be frank, anyone who disagrees with your take, simply doesn't know what they're looking at. It's really that simple.

I really wish Jagr had decided to miss another couple of games, rather than try to play through it.
After the good effort at Nashville, despite the loss, they need another against the Wild. The next step, besides continuing to string together good, hard working games, is to start tightening up in their own zone and the neutral zone.
It's been far to easy get gain access to the Flyers zone lately for opposing teams. - Jsaquella
I love players who try to play thru injuries but I'd sooner see guys take time to get healthy, esp this time of year, so they are strong for the playoffs. this team is deep enough to deal with short term injuries. maybe JVR being out with his concussion (praying its mild) will give him time to get over whatever else is ailing him (hip/abdomen/etc) |

if they could get leighton thru waivers, he could do just as good against the islanders and bottom feeder teams that bob has played.
bob has a wow factor cuz he is very quick and is constantly moving and hoping around, complete opposite of bryz who is big and plays angles to make the net very small.
bob reminds me of nitty his first 2 years - mydoglicks
???
o no so we're back to Leighton?

You have to credit Bob. He may have played less talented teams but hes done an excellent job. Do I think he can keep it up? Not sure. Im willing to support whatever the Flyers do with the goaltending situation. |

I have a ton of pretty graphic stories.. but some pretty comical stories as well..
Real quick.. Two years ago a freshman in college fell during a race at the penn relays.. pretty nasty comminuted compound fx of the forearm.. needless to say we are talking to him on the track and he looks up at me (has been screaming and holding his arm for about a minute at this point) and locks eyes. He goes " STOP STOP STOP", so we ask him whats wrong (we obviously know what is going, but thought he was trying to tell us something)...
We say : "What??"
He says (to me): "You have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen."
The guys still dont let me live it down. |

The Flyers have plenty of size and grit on their roster. - MJL
didnt think we did but after some calculations
bostons avg player height-5.95
bostons avg player weight-200
phillys avg player height-5.925
phillys avg player weight-202
in phillys roster i included pronger, shelly, sestito because of injuries i had to match the 24 man roster to boston, if you take those 3 out then there is a lerger margain. |

Saying that Bobrovsky has played against bottom feeders or poor offensive teams isn't a knock on him, it's simple a factual statement. The thing is, even with a lot of shots, teams like Carolina and the Isles aren't running out lines with the ability and depth of a team like Chicago.
I want to see Bobrovsky do what he's done against the Isles, Canes and Habs against the Bruins, Caps and Blackhawks. |

I agree, the bottom feeder games he played were no snooze a thon, he faced plenty of shots & pressure.
I support what they do as well, (to a degree), as long as we're not playing someone more to justify salary over substance |

My gut tells me the only way we get Bryz going is several starts in a row. Good and bad teams regardless. Sometimes, it is good to have a game vs a lesser opponent to start to build that confidence up, then take on the better teams feeling like your in a groove. Then if you play well vs a top team, things start to snowball in a positive direction. - Hextall271
The problem is that that has already been tried. He's had several periods of consecutive starts including one period in December where he started 6 games in a row, including 2 back to back situations. He did not respond.

I think thats a fair arguement. Lets see what he can do against teams with more firepower. |
