That's almost what it boils down to. Why do I have a feeling that if we scored in the last minute of the game with a player on top of Anderson, it would have been waived off though??
Oh well, sometimes these things go your way, and sometimes they don't.
Bottom line: The Leafs need to worry about tightening up their play in their own zone with the puck... Those giveaways, although not directly hurting us, kill all the momentum.
2 minutes for fighting a guy who cheap shotted you, yeah, im ok with dion taking the 2 minutes considering Spezza was standing in the crease on top of Reimer causing interference, if the refs had any clue how the game works.
A. they would have not called a penalty on phaneuf for fighting after being cheap shotted.
B. they would have called the penalty on Spezza for goaltender interference.
all in all, im glad dion went and faught foligno and i hope that he is targetted every time we play the leafs and we make him bleed from the ears. - big_dion
I'm not talking about the 2mins. I'm talking about the 5 min major for fighting. That's 5 mins of the game (or about 2 shifts during that span) that the Sens top line gets to line up against weaker D. If you're Wilson, why would you want to chance that in a game you are up 2-1? Sure, if the score is lopsided one way or another, go for it... but in a 2-1 game?
If I'm Wilson, I'm either telling Phaneuf to wait until the Leafs get another goal, or I'm telling him that someone else will take care of it.

alright, now that you changed it.....
Maclean is proving to be an excellent coach. Wilson is proving he is not able to push the right buttons to get consistency in his teams play on a regular basis. There is no tenacity in the Leafs game-the forecheck is non existent.
Wilson has simply run out of steam....it happens to many good coaches. Carlyle is a Cup winner without a job.
Not to mention, absolutely no way should Kadri be sat in favour of Rosehill. Kadris speed and skill could have been a difference maker, Rosehill's 5 minutes of ice time was an absolute waste. - Barx
You may be right. But I see Ottawa and Toronto as very similar teams. As a matter of fact, Ottawa did in the third what toronto has done quite a few times in the third this year to nail down a win. The difference is... Anderson. This is all just my opinion of course

Since lockout:
Ottawa has played in 34 playoff games, have won 4 series. Made it to the SCF.
Toronto has played in 0.
Thanks for coming out. - Jordo
you guys had 1 good run that year, vs anaheim, we all remember; because your ever so great Captain shot the puck at Neidermayer on purpose after the whistle.
yep, thats a great captain, captain unsportsmanlike.
He's JUST starting to break out again. He was lost for most of the season. Once he gets firing on all cylinders he should be a 25 goal guy with strength for the 2nd line... but boy did he have an abysmal start of the season. - Brian Huddle
Kulemin played well but not like he did last year. He is an elite forward, hence the reason he's always attracted interest from other teams. When he drives the net and controls the corners you can't take him off his feet. Hope he gets his head back.

seriously though, they need to play a much meaner and intimidating game if they want success.
speed is great, but there needs to be a balance.
the bruins have built the perfect model in my opinion-fast and mean with solid goaltending.

for sure they have, every team should be trying to mould their team around what boston has going for them...mind you; Thomas does help!
lol you think that hit on Phaneuf was clean? the one from Foligno? actually? - big_dion
Unfortunately yeah.
Is what Foligno did meant to hurt Phaneuf? Yes
Was that a clean hit years ago? Yes
Did Dion purposely embelish it? No he just tried to get out of the way and couldn't, which made it worse. That bailout hip was meant to make Dion think about it the next time.
If a Leaf did it we'd say the same thing.
Was it payback for the game earlier in the season? Maybe but most likely a warning moving forward.
