Come on man. Your team needs to take a little responsibility for playing soft in front of your own net, and not crowding the Senators goalie. 38 shots are great but who in Tonronto is going to stand in front of the net and cause poop, go to the dirty places, etc? Anderson has a bad case of not only over commiting but losing his mind and focus when he's being screened and stepped on.
In the end, this game will be remembered for the W by Sens fans and the L for Leafs fans. All the poop that happened in between doesn't matter.
Honestly like the bizarro world when a BB team is filled with soft, small, scoring forwards and no goaltending. You need to send Grabowski, Kadri and whatever else and get yourself some scoring grit. I mean, Spezza in front of the net? Toronto, other than the first period played like the soft Sens with soft goaltending of the recent past. You know, the Toronto team that has come into Scotiabank Place and hit the snot out of the Sens. A missed call wouldn't be what pissed me off about that game, the way that half the Leafs didn't show up for one of their rivals would be having me chew my lips off. - pugnacious.serf
I think I can find that direct quote for Sens teams circa 2000 - 2006...

That was by far the most frustrating and disappointing loss of the season.

I agree, the Marchand suspension was way too excessive. But if that gets five games, then the Foligno hit has crossed the same line. - Barx
Oh for sure. I think you look at it only because of precedent. I still don't think they're bad plays.
whatever is right.
thats not a hip check. - big_dion
Feel free to have that opinion. Attacking me as some "know-it-all" aint cool at all in my books. There's a thing called respect, and you haven't shown any.

it was barely even a hit...had phaneuf not landed so hard and got up and kept skating it would have hardly been a penalty...i was fine with the 2 minutes...refs are going to call that all day...it was a mix of foligno ducking and phaneuf jumping...it was a weird play - TheMike12

Kulemin played well but not like he did last year. He is an elite forward, hence the reason he's always attracted interest from other teams. When he drives the net and controls the corners you can't take him off his feet. Hope he gets his head back. - stevecarpetman
Would have liked to have seen this from Lombardi last night instead of the long shots. He got lucky on his goal, but there were several times when he had the wing and a step on the defense and he just shot it right into Anderson's chest. |

Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but as Leaf fans aren't you pissed that Dion was so selfish as to fight Foligno in a game where they are leading 2-1? A super important game for a team fighting tooth and nail for the playoffs at that?
I mean it's not like Foligno is a heavyweight. Any number of Leaf players could have taken him on and made him accountable. Why did it have to be the captain and best Dman?
Ottawa will take that trade off every time.
Then, of course, it was Spezza's line the scored the tying goal with Dion in the box. Now the Sens were doing some line juggling last night, but you have to think that would have been Dion's matchup. Instead someone else is out there on D against the Sens #1 center and they get scored on.
And Brian Burke cheering Dion on from stands? I would think most GM's would be pissed if their all-star #1 D is taking on a guy on the other team's 3rd line in an important game they are up 2-1. I often wonder if Burke cares more about his 'image' than about the Leafs actually becoming a bona-fide contender. - Charliebox
It was about Dion with Bruised jaw and all standing up for himself and showing the rest of the team the correct way of doing things. Bad for game good for team. I just hope they got it, because Burke did. That's why he's our captain.
Remember a few years back when Kaberle got rocked in New Jersey? The Leafs did nothing that night and we've been in the toilet ever since. We had big bodies like Pony and Antropov who got pushed around night after night. You stand up for yourself and your teammates because you know the other guy would do it for you. Burke has created an Army and Dion is their high ranking officer in the field. Brilliant!!
Why is Ottawa doing so well this year? Young talent led by heart and soul veterans. No feeling of entitlement.

But with Holzer I think he's a 4-5 guy.
Aulie when he reaches his potential is still more 3-5 than a true #2.
If anyone's gonna be a #2 for him it's gonna have to be Schenn or Blacker, IMO. Those are the guys with that upside. - Brian Huddle
Gawd knows it wont be schenn.
Besides, Gardiner appears to have more upside than him. |

The problem is that Referees in this league are far too worried about the Media and the NHL Office so they are making terrible judgements night in and night out based on what has happened. They arent using their proper on ice judgement a lot of the time. |

You're referring to both the Prince of Wales trophy, and the Presidents Trophy right?
Neither of which the Leafs have won in the past half century? - Jordo
It's no coincidence the playoff games you won occured when the leafs weren't in the playoffs...cause we all know how that story would have ended. |

Considering they're the same age and one is a supposed stay at home, the other and offensive d-man, yet the stay at home has better offensive stats....not sure I'm in agreement.
Sigh, should we reintroduce the Schenn should've gone back to junior argument?
Leafs lost last night, ah well......16 minutes isn't doing Schenn any good either. Good way to stifle a kid's confidence.
Prediction: when wilson is forced back into playing Schenn 20 plus minutes because of injury or trade, he'll go back to being the Schenn of last year, but even better. It's happend before, it will happen again. |

or just look at last year when they were in the lottery. Were they better than the Leafs then too |
