So, who here enjoyed the goaltending display last night? Rip the non calls all you want, but that 3rd was a beaut. - weirdoh

Totally disagree.
It was the team's response to it that was lacking. They should have stepped up and poured it on. - Leeman4Gilmour
it almost would have been beneficial for someone who was on the ice to run folignos face into the ice and take the 2 minute penalty, then no fight would have been needed, but hey, it is what it is lol |

Don't get me started... The Leafs MO this year, allow under 20 shots against and have 3 or 4 in your net... |

Come on man. Your team needs to take a little responsibility for playing soft in front of your own net, and not crowding the Senators goalie. 38 shots are great but who in Tonronto is going to stand in front of the net and cause poop, go to the dirty places, etc? Anderson has a bad case of not only over commiting but losing his mind and focus when he's being screened and stepped on.
In the end, this game will be remembered for the W by Sens fans and the L for Leafs fans. All the poop that happened in between doesn't matter.
Honestly like the bizarro world when a BB team is filled with soft, small, scoring forwards and no goaltending. You need to send Grabowski, Kadri and whatever else and get yourself some scoring grit. I mean, Spezza in front of the net? Toronto, other than the first period played like the soft Sens with soft goaltending of the recent past. You know, the Toronto team that has come into Scotiabank Place and hit the snot out of the Sens. A missed call wouldn't be what pissed me off about that game, the way that half the Leafs didn't show up for one of their rivals would be having me chew my lips off. - pugnacious.serf

Wouldn't be so sure about that. Gardiner's also a year older. - Big_Lightnin
one thing i am noticing about gardiner....
now that the rest of the nhl has their legs in mid season form he doesnt look as fast as he did earlier
methinks those young legs of his got him out of the gate faster is all |

2min minor, phaneuf got up.. big whoop
reimer has someone sitting on him on 2 of the 3 goals..
and a team built to win with offense isnt producing much offense as of late
stars are aligned indeed - Dozzer

I dunno he went end to end last night like everybody was standing still. I just think he isn't catching anybody off guard anymore. |

It's about creating a culture of standing up for yourself and not being pansies. I'd rather lose all 82 and come out hard and have guys standing up for themselves and play hockey the right way... then win all 82 and have guys turtling. - Brian Huddle
Not challenging Foligno to a fight after a borderline hit, is by no means the same thing as turtling!!
I'd argue that losing your captain and best Dman for 7 mins in an important game you are up 2-1 in, is NOT playing hockey the 'right' way.
That is how you lose games.
If you'd rather lose game because of selfish plays, fine. But don't sit there and say that's how hockey is played, because it doesn't have to be played that way. As I said before, there are plenty of guys on that Leaf bench who could have stood up to Foligno and it not cost the Leafs to lose thier best Dman for 7 mins. |

I don't really fault Phaneuf's. It is an emotional game. But this team is nothing like Burke claimed he was going to establish. The irony here is that the Senators seem to have all the truculence.

was waiting for Schenn to lay out Foligno like he was doing to Condra all night. Man that kid's gonna need the ice today. |

only one goal.. the first one was soft on reimer's part.. a guy sliding 2mph into you shouldnt be an issue.. gotta battle through poop like that |

Would have liked to have seen this from Lombardi last night instead of the long shots. He got lucky on his goal, but there were several times when he had the wing and a step on the defense and he just shot it right into Anderson's chest. - Cimo
He's still recovering from his concussion. It's out of his control when his mind will let him get back into those situations. |

I think its moreso an adjustment to the longer NHL schedule, more games etc. He's also had his game reigned in a lot since the preseason. AHL would be a great place for him to build some stamina, and get stronger, as well as explore his creative side. At least until the log-jam clears on the blueline. That afterall was the original plan...... |

Just to add. What if Phaneuf breaks his hand on Foligno's helmet?
Playoff hopes gone with one punch.
Brutal, selfish, play. |

he was on his pad. Pushed in to him, not saying interference, but guy was on his leg. he couldn't move. Not that it would have mattered cause he was out of position, just making a point. |

not sure maclean is a better coach if last night's game is any indication. i mean, OTT was outplayed badly most of the game. switch the goaltenders and it's a blowout in favour of TO. i'm not a wilson fan, but i do think maclean gets way more credit than he deserves sometimes. however, he does a an average team at best, playing over their heads, so what do i know...? - coach
nothing.

Wouldn't that be something? Get's traded to Detroit after their goalies go down, he tears it up and gets his 30 wins on another team? Eat it Dan! |
