Isn't it funny how on one side, Jared Cowen makes a glaring error that leads to the Lupul goal, yet isn't stapled to the bench, yet in Leaf land our young guys make errors and they end up in the press box? Kind of like Karlsson last season and look at him now.......

and currently plays alot better than schenn!
- Fakepartofme

talk is of Gardiner and Blacker, not Schenn, unless I am mistaken.

And no he doesn't. That would be why he was scratched for 6 games.

it almost would have been beneficial for someone who was on the ice to run folignos face into the ice and take the 2 minute penalty, then no fight would have been needed, but hey, it is what it is lol
- big_dion

I agree. By forcing Phaneuf's to take care of business it opened the door for the Senators to get an emotional lift and take over the game in the third period. You know they were whooping it up between periods in the Senators dressing room.

I don't really fault Phaneuf's. It is an emotional game. But this team is nothing like Burke claimed he was going to establish. The irony here is that the Senators seem to have all the truculence.
- spatso

Murray used to draft for size. He did it Anaheim and in Ottawa (especially after seeing Anaheim CREAM Ottawa)

Burke has drafted size but it hasn't arrived yet, and the size for right now is all ont he back end. Big forwards are hard to come by. But he's looking.

Game is over. The players have moved on to prepare for the next games. Let's do the same.

Both teams have been crap for the last little while. Let's not play the "whose better" game. Both sides sound like morons.

Just to add. What if Phaneuf breaks his hand on Foligno's helmet?

Playoff hopes gone with one punch.

Brutal, selfish, play.

- Charliebox

And what if Shanny, or Wendal, or Iginla, or Messier didn't play rough-and-tumble styles of games?

You don't back down out of fear of breaking your hand on some punk's helmet.

Wouldn't that be something? Get's traded to Detroit after their goalies go down, he tears it up and gets his 30 wins on another team? Eat it Dan!

I was talking about Schenn.

I'm not saying it was interference, but Turris was on his leg. Not much Reimers going to do after that. but not like he was in position anyway
- Big_Lightnin

I didnt think turris actually made contact with reimer there..ill have to see it again...i very well could be wrong..

i just watched it again..honestly there isnt much contact there..he isnt on reimer at any point...he gets hit and slides through the crease and makes soft contact with the pad...certainly not enough to mess up reimers positioning..but as you said he was out of position to being with...so ya...

reimer, just like his counterpart gustavsson have let in absolutely deflating goals that must to be saved if the Leafs plan on making the playoffs.

I don't understand why people are so quick to jump on Wilson and so quick to justify average goaltending....

Totally disagree.

It was the team's response to it that was lacking. They should have stepped up and poured it on.

- Leeman4Gilmour

Yep and that's what wrong with hockey today. They dominated all game but fell apart in the third and even worse after the Sen's third. Dion gave them the motivation and they ignored the meaning.

ya mclean is great with the kids...puts cowen right back out and he made a solid play in his own zone....and honestly i think he has pretty much given karlsson free reign to play his high risk game..thankfully Kuba has had a major bounce back year and for the most part helps cover up any mistakes...on top of karlsson's ability to recover..

Jake Gardiner played in like 35 consecutive games making countless mistakes that lead to goals.

Schenn played in NHL at 18.

sorry, you are mistaken

Thank you... That's what I'm saying. And even tho the PK HAS improved this is still all Wilson's fault?

Average goaltending is not fine by me...

Agreed. And even when our young guys play well, they still can't earn themselves more ice-time.

wilson just doesn't seem to be able to get his team playing hard on a consistent basis....not just game to game, but period to period and shift to shift.

I'm not sure about you, but I'm getting tired of justifying their games. It went off a skate, he was screened, he was bumped. Just stop the (frank)ing pucks when needed for crying out loud.

- Big_Lightnin

Because he doesn't have the big contract Schenn does......Gardiner has outplayed schenn in every aspect of the game except hitting...but 99% of schenn's hits have no impact on the game....but his slow foot speed, brain cramps, incompetent playmaking and lack of defensive skills have had a huge impact on a lot of games....as they usually lead a goal for the opposing team.
Schenn should have been scratched for many games....say with Komi....but the dollars say otherwise.
Oh and by the way..Gardiner has played 38 NHL games to Schenn's 275. Gardiner has proving much more valuable.

exactly....great goalies find ways to stop pucks.
