Apparently Lombardi is wearing top line White

He didn't look too bad last night. So I guess Wilson takes that as somebody coming out of their shell and are right ready to tear poop up! WEST SIDE!

oh christ.

though, he had easily his best game last night by a fricking mile. love how he was still being criticized (and yes I was leading that charge yesterday).

maybe Lombo reads these boards

I'll show those (frank)ers

actually I honestly fully expected Phaneuf to be captian. And given that Chara was there, ya it should be him.
- Big_Lightnin

may i ask why you thought phaneuf?

Well, our top line has been on for 6 goals against in their past 3 games apparently. So maybe he's trying to shake things up for their defensive game?

Should have been Alfie and Dion, IMO. Market the Battle of Ontario.

Now you have two guys who won't want to piss off their fans by picking Leafs, lol.

- Brian Huddle

I'm absolutely certain Kessel does not go last again... I bet it's Alfie who picks him too...

Logical post and with proof to back it up.

Phaneuf's possession numbers have declined fairly steadily since he was paired with Aulie, for what it's worth: http://t.co/gf0ZA8ir by @mirtle

Yeah, I get that, but it doesn't capitalize on ANY marketing at all. A GREAT way to market the game would have been to advertise the Battle Of Ontario on Steroids or something lol

One of the best players and Captains in the game.
- AdamFrench

and on the flip side the captain of the host team just happens to be the longest current serving captain in the NHL

Splitting Lupul and Kessel up seems useless. They'll be back together by the end of it.

Lombardi-Bozak-Kessel,
MacArthur-Grabo-Kulie,
Lupul-Connolly-Kadri,
Crabb-Steckel-Brown,

On paper, that is a well balanced line up. But Im not a fan of Lombardi on the top line.

Alfie if he was smart would pick kessel first, send a little love to the leafs fans .And maybe just once not be booed out of his own building
- top shelf 15

I'd imagine he might get booed off the stage if he did though, by everyone

will be interesting though.

should we start a poll to see if Kessel, Lupul and Phaneuf are the last 3 picks?

At the expense of the only combo that's been scoring all year? How about you teach your defenders to actually engage in contact with opposing players rather than standing around watching them crash your goalie.

and how does that sell in the states?

it doesnt. thats how.

we need to get it through our heads.. the nhl brass and marketing dont give a flying (frank) about canadian franchises.. they will continue to sell tickets regardless.

gotta try something.. and those two havent looked as dangerous as of late.. probably because oppsotion teams are keying in on them

break them apart and spread out the offense.. if they continue to sputter then re-unite them.. worth a damn shot tho.. toronto's offense hasnt been dominating.. and if they have any hope in hell of reaching the post season the offense has got to be firing

because they aint gettin there with goaltending and defense.

Now TSN is saying Lombardi with Kessel and Bozak.

Meh. At least that;s going to be a super fast line.

- jbold

But one that is NOT very good offensively. Kessel will be shut down by other teams because neither Lombo or Bozak are a threat to score like Lupul. So Kessel won't really be able to pass to the other 2 in good scoring areas because they never seem to capitalize on them the way Lupul does.

Cause he's a LEAF

Actually I was thinking it had to be the starters for some reason. Figured it would be Alfie cause it's in Ottawa, so Phaneuf just seemed next logical. I thought captains were part of the voting
