can't afford for them to keep losing either.
though last night they looked much better than on the weekend.
Still, I like it. It's a shake up. Can always switch the lines back in the 2nd period if it doesn't work, but certainly worth a shot. - Big_Lightnin
so leave them in for a period if it doesn work?
alright boys....you guys have 5 shifts to build chemistry and do something.
ready. GO! |

Your gonna give Lupul 3rd line minutes? Hes been the Leafs best player for like 2 months - wolfos412
'
Think of it more like this:
Lupul - Connolly - Kadri
MacArthur - Bozak - Kessel
Lombardi - Grabo - Kulemin
Kessel played a weak game. He is moving around his players to get a response and create accountability.
I like it. Might not work but he's doing what a coach should. |

the good teams rarely break up the first scoring line. - Cherry--Skoal
Rarely, as in, only when they are trying to stimulate the offense?
then we agree
oh, and Leafs aren't a very good team. See 9th place, losing to Senators etc.

Kessel looked scared last night. Been getting hit too much lately. |

dont shake up the two guys that got you off to the best start in 7 years is my point.
and I'm flabbergasted my view in the minority here.
Bottom line: I think this move is beyond stupid. They are both over ppg players why? Being on the same line.
and you go and break that up after a little hiccup?

It's not BECAUSE they slumped. Secondary scoring has been a huge issue all year. But they were so hot all year that splitting them would have been stupid.
now that they cooled off a little, it gives the opportunity to try something new to try and spark the other lines.
If it was 3 weeks ago when they were getting 2 pts a game each, ya, dumb move. But right now, something needs to be done and quick. If they lose another 2 in a row, it's over. |

you couldnt be more incorrect.. hell.. quinn even broke up mogilny and sundin for the very same reason..
things got stagnant so you break up the two top guys.. filter sucees to other lines.. disrupt opposition game plans and then put them back together |

lupul isn't the reason the line was dominant
Kessel isnt the reason the line was dominant.
The line was dominant because they were together.
Kessel with lombardi and bozak
like ....WHAT!? |

BTW did you happen to notice when the lines started juggling last night? 2nd period, when they were killing them.
Lupul had a few shifts without Kessel last night, and vice versa. Wilson juggles in game all the time - maybe he saw something in his combos last night that worked and took a look at practise.
again, Lupul-Bozak-Kessel is likely still the #1 PP. Not like Lupul's been traded, just juggling lines.

this.. trust me.. the NHLs worst nightmare is an all canadian cup final - Dozzer
Proof is the 92-93 Leafs and Gretzky's non-call. Montreal in / Toronto out
Screw what Canadians want we need to market the best player in the NHL on an American team in one of the biggest cities in the U.S. |

ya I never said I love that line
I like Lupul -Connolly-Kadri. Would rather have seen more shuffling and put Kulemin with Kessel and get him off the snide that way.
Not taking anything away from Lupul, but he gets a lot of open looks cause Kessel draws 2 defenders and the goalie's attention then slips a pass, like last night. Could be good for Kulemin.
Kessel's line is going to get worked physically |
