The only person making any kind of sense to me right now is Jsaq. I'm not going to fight with everyone because it's not easy but I'll say this.

Anyone could have went after Cutterbuck last night. Anyone. This doesn't fall on to the shoulders of Jody Shelley (Especially when so many recommends team toughness). Jody Shelley is an easy target for criticism because he's the enforcer. The same way Ilya Bryzgalov is an easy target when he doesn't get a win because he's the number one goalie and many on here doesn't know how team defense works.We don't know if Laviolette recommended that Shelley do not fight Cutterbuck or not. We have no idea. Shelley could have said something during a commercial break or in a scrum. What if Shelley wasn't in the line up and someone still didn't say anything. So where is the team toughness? I'm going to say nonexistent.

If many are offended with me not agreeing with their point of view. By all means, insult me. Get mad. You're doing a great job already. The Fact is, Shelley's on this team and all the whining over it means nothing.

Clutterbuck outweighs Simmonds by 50 pounds. Shelley outweighs Clutterbuck by 5. Simmonds brings scoring and jam, so I would prefer he not fight and be off the ice for 5 mins or risk injury in a fight. That's what you purportedly have Shelley for. When DannyB went the other night, he went with a guy roughly his size and also a skilled guy. I was still a bit worried about his hands on the visor, but not worried he was overmatched.

Its like asking a scorer not to score but to fight.

i highly, highly doubt it, but do you think he's purposefully giving up those big rebounds to test his defense to start the game? they are so bad they almost look intentional to me.

I think he needs some early shots to get comfortable. Got to remember, his first coach as a NHLer was Francoid Allaire, and one of his teachings is, if you give up a rebound, give it right out in front of you, so you don't have to scramble for a quick shot off the rebound.

Of course, as the game went on, he was directing a lot more to the corners and swallowing the initial shot more often.

Okay, so let me ask you this. The same way when Bryz doesn't have a good game when allowing bad goals, the media normally claw away to find out what happened. The Media could ask why Shelley isn't fighting. In fact, with his price tag I would want to find out why the Flyer continue to carry Shelley. Sure you can say that the Media doesn't want to bother with the time but with the trade time nearing, why not? They can ask Shelley directly and they can ask Laviolette who should have all the answers.

With Simmonds, size isn't a factor. I think we've seen this every time Simmonds has dropped the cloves. In fact, Simmonds would become even more poppular with fans if he was the one who dropped Clutterbuck.

I didnt even watch the game... i just took the oppurtunity to beat on Shelley... i'm not mad that he didn't fight Cal or try to... they got 2 points... thats all that matters for a team they don't play again until next year or the cup finals...

Got treated to the Flyers West vs Canucks game last night. Pretty good goaltenders duel between Quick and Luongo. Hooked up with Cascadia's Marc D. during the first intermission. Richards had a sub-par game through 65 minutes but got the Kings the extra point with a beauty shot in the Showcase Showdown.

Lavy has one Achilles heal with this team and it is goaltending.

To not play Bryzgalov Thurs night is wrong. You should go right back to your horse no matter the numbers Bob has against the NYI. You think another team would sit their suppose #1 goalie out after only playing one game?
