Don't be silly. The enforcer shouldn't have handled Clutterbuck, that's not his job. - PLindbergh31
Nope. Will just put him out on the PP and ask him to score goals now. |

This is what I am talking about. Utter nonsense if true.
How the hell is Bryz supposed to get in a rhythm like this? Now if Bob plays great again, it just starts the whole bullpoop over again.
Lavy has one Achilles heal with this team and it is goaltending. - MBFlyerfan
Bobrovsky has lights out numbers against the Isles, as well as Laviolette most likely wanting to give Bryz both games this weekend. 4 games in 6 days is a heavy workload for any goaltender, and not something a coach should do during the middle of the season. Laviolette is making the right call. |

He should start Bryzgalov Thurs then give him off and come right back to him. Dont like the decision at all. You finally get this guy going in the right direction and you put him on the bench, terrible decision, imo.
Edit: I would like to see him play thurs and sat. off sunday |

Those two games at the end of the 2009-2010 season are the reason why Shelley is here. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. |

I don't understand how not playing in Thursday night's game would effect how Bryzgalov will perform this weekend. What if there was no game Thursday night? I don't have a problem with Bobrovsky starting Thursday night at all. |

The only person making any kind of sense to me right now is Jsaq. I'm not going to fight with everyone because it's not easy but I'll say this.
Anyone could have went after Cutterbuck last night. Anyone. This doesn't fall on to the shoulders of Jody Shelley (Especially when so many recommends team toughness). Jody Shelley is an easy target for criticism because he's the enforcer. The same way Ilya Bryzgalov is an easy target when he doesn't get a win because he's the number one goalie and many on here doesn't know how team defense works. We don't know if Laviolette recommended that Shelley do not fight Cutterbuck or not. We have no idea. Shelley could have said something during a commercial break or in a scrum. What if Shelley wasn't in the line up and someone still didn't say anything. So where is the team toughness? I'm going to say nonexistent.
If many are offended with me not agreeing with their point of view. By all means, insult me. Get mad. You're doing a great job already. The Fact is, Shelley's on this team and all the whining over it means nothing. - Schenn2shine

I don't see anywhere that anyone here is getting mad or bent out of shape. I also dont think anyone is suggesting they know more than you since they've played hockey...it seems you're the one taking things so personal.
I think a few are getting quite frustrated with your inability to understand a simple concept thats apparent with any well-bonded team. If a guy like Clutterbuck is taking runs at your teammates continuously at bad times, like the specific examples presented pages ago, I think any player wants to know that his guys have their back. Wouldn't you want that feeling? NO, nowhere did anyone suggest to slash the guy in the teeth, or cross check them in the mouth.
All that's being said is it would've been nice for someone (Hartnell, Simmonds, Shelley , etc) to chirp him and finish checks harder on him for the rest of the game and once it was a blowout, approach Clutterbuck to dance. Either he backs up his play and fights or he absorbs a Matt Cooke reputation, and I dont see him wanting that. |

Got treated to the Flyers West vs Canucks game last night. Pretty good goaltenders duel between Quick and Luongo. Hooked up with Cascadia's Marc D. during the first intermission. Richards had a sub-par game through 65 minutes but got the Kings the extra point with a beauty shot in the Showcase Showdown. - rockychocbill
Ahh. So that's why I felt a disruption in the Force. |

There is a game Thursday night. You play Bryz thurs and sat (which would give him 3 straight starts in five days). Come back to the savior Bobrovsky on Sunday against the Bruins (see how legit he is then against a top tier team). |

And Simmonds did do enough to get Clutterbuck's attention and get him to take some stupid penalties, getting him off the ice. But I'm glad they didn't fight. |

Agreed. I don't care about rhythm at this time of year as much as wins. The All Star break is coming up anyway so any rhythm or momentum would most likely be killed by that anyway. If Bob has great numbers against the Isles then go with him. I don't think we need to worry about one or the other getting into a groove until late March or early April. Things change too quickly these days. |

Did Laviolette have to suggest that Giroux and Jagr try to score? That Coburn and Meszaros play defense? Shelley's primary role is to stick up for his teammates and protect them. He's not here to score goals. - Jsaquella
coatsey made a special point last night that one of the great things about shelley is that he understands his role - in that special way that only coastey can make. |

I don't think anyone views Bobrovsky as a savior. I just think it's strictly a decision based on Bobrovsky's numbers against the Islanders, and not wanting to start Bryzgalov 4 times in 6 days. People are reading far too much into it. |

All I keep hearing is how Bob should start bc he has outperformed Bryz. So let Bryz play 3 straight games and get into a groove and then come back to Bob on Sunday against the Bruins. We can then get a good look at Bob versus a very good hockey club (lets see what he has). Nothing against anyone, I just would like to see this rotation. |

If its just a matter of confidence for Bryz... then he should be playing against crappy teams... |
