I know! But he's a great depth guy to have. I'm anxious to see what the flyers do, if anything, to bolster the blue line. - funmaster18
We all know what their gonna do I don't wanna say his name tho haha |

Well he can't fully serve his purpose because nobody wants to or cares to fight him. He doesn't need to be here, they've done very well without him in the lineup. - ob18

It takes two to tango. And I don't recall a single game this Season, including last night's game, where I felt an enforcer was neccessary.

They won't roll. I'm expecting a very close game that can go either way. If Alex Smith plays like he did last week Niners will be a handful. I'm hoping he wakes up and realizes he's Alex Smith. - PLindbergh31
Nothing against the giants but I hope Alex smith wins the superbowl so I have another Qb to use who is better than Vick when in debate on who the better Qb's in the league are |

In fact if anybody had bothered to do so, they'd see that during the 3rd period, when if at all, Clutterbuck was running around, Shelley was never on the ice when Clutterbuck was. And if anyone bothered to look or notice, they'd see instances where Shelley was put out on the ice, and Clutterbuck was taken off the ice at the same time as Shelley was coming on. How convenient for Mr. Clutterbuck. And if they'd look at the TOI charts in the other periods, they were on the ice together in the first period when the game was still undecided, for 10 seconds of icetime. And in the second period they were on the ice together for 39 seconds. But not for one shift together in the 3rd.
Clutterbuck is currently 2nd in the NHL in hits to Matt Martin. He led the NHL in hits the previous two Seasons. But Jody Shelley is supposed to stop Clutterbuck from throwing hits on people. All the other enforcers in the League must suck at it also. Because none of them are stopping Clutterbuck from doing what he does either. - MJL
Okay then Shelley should take a shot at another player, plain and simple.

Why?
There is a code that enforcer with character such as Shelley follow. Not taking liberties on a player for no good reason, is one of them. |

B/c that's exactly what the other team is doing with Clutterbuck. They wanna dance around the big guys and take shots at everyone else then you send your big guys against who they leave out there. |

I'm sorry Joe, but it just doesn't work that way anymore. That's not how the League operates. Players do not police each other anymore. I think your statement is how it should be, but it's not.

....And players health is the worse because of it. The NHL is surely in a tough spot when it comes to this subject.
The NHL can only react after the fact. Players on the ice can act immediately, and even better, act to prevent such things in the first place...but the rules just don't allow it anymore.

Then use the roster spot on one of the phantoms since we're doing this youth movement this year.
Even though I get what you are saying about the league going a certain way, i feel that's temporary, as the stinking enforcer rule needs to go. Last night is why, But even still I wouldnt have minded the designated enforcer taking someone to task. |
