I saw Shelley throwing the body a few times though. - Schenn2shine
Im sure he did. I think people wanted him to be alittle more aggressive and get into someones face to try and die down what was happening on the ice. Clutterbuck plays a physical game, thats not going to change, but you still have to protect your teammates. You dont want another team coming into your building and pushing you around.
I dont think Shelley has to fight or go after Clutterbuck if he isnt on the ice. But you better believe he should make his presence known on the ice with physical play and mixing it up, whether that turns into yapping or fighting would be determined by the opponent. - stveshdy
Shelley di throw a couple of good hits.
Also, it seemed towards the end that one or both coaches were trying to keep them apart. Two or three times in the third, Shelley's shift is starting just as Clutterbuck's ended...and a couple of those shifts for Clutterbuck were really short
Again, no substance here. Nothing showing how I'm wrong. You don't even have to be a Hockey fan or have ever watched a Hockey game in your life to know that if a player has played in the NHL for a decade, and is currently still on an NHL team, then he is a legit NHL player - MJL
Yep. Just one as of right now. Leighton is starting. Couple of interesting kids playing too...Calvin de Haan, Simon Despres, Thomas Hickey, Nazem Kadri and Joe Colborne are scheduled to play, among others.
My daughter's been bugging me to go to a game, and I haven't been able to drop the cash on Flyers tickets for her, plus the road trips have made it hard to find a non school night where I am not working. - Jsaquella
Well thats awesome that you got tickets. Hopefully you and your daughter have a good time. I cant wait till my daughter is old enough to go.
Like I said, there is more to Hockey then goals and assists. And by posting his career stats, you prove that he is a legitimate NHL player. And looking at goals and assists to judge Jody Shelley, makes little sense.

I think what he is trying to say is the guy's role is an enforcer. If he's not going to be that then his days in the league are numbered.

Thanks, she's really pumped. I got freebies for the pre-season and took my 7 year old to the game against the Rags where Avery and Simmond went after each other. Ever since the little one has been chirping about going.

Every enforcer in the League days are numbered. Plus the fact that he's what 36? He's still a legitimate NHL player, and has had a good career, and made a good living, for a guy who supposedly can't play.

So by you saying "he's an NHL'er", thats enough factual evidence for me to accept that he's a legit player?
I don't think so man... this is ridiculous even for you...

The factual evidence I gave is that he has played in the NHL for a decade, and is still currently on an NHL roster. And he played in an NHL game just last night. And I'll add to it that he has played over 600 NHL games. And this is a repeat of what I said previously. I just didn't throw out a blanket statement .

Look at all those facts!!!
Legit NHL player? You've got to be kidding me. He's a joke to everyone. Players ignore him now. Flashback to 24/7 and Mike Rupp
Good career? You can't be serious.. he's a - player for his career... in 611 games he has 18 goals. Good career? No. Not thats not a good career.
Made a good living? Why yes, yes he did.
Supposedly can't play? You're right. He can't. He gets paid to fight, not play hockey.
It's not about the fighting. It's about the time you're choosing to put the enforcer on to the ice and asking him to go after someone, anyone. I haven't once heard you say "Laviolette should place Shelley on to the ice to go after Cutterbuck or to set the tone by fighting another tough player". I've only heard you say that you think Shelley should go after someone else. Who? From what you've been saying, since Cutterbuck was running our skill, it sounds like you were asking for an eye for an eye. Have Shelley run one of their players.
If I'm mistake, whatever. However, premeditated fights are not allowed these days. - Schenn2shine
And yet premeditated fights occur all the time in hockey, hence we see the fights 4 seconds into games. Do you see anyone being fined for those? The coach? Don't think so. If Clutterbuck wants to skate around and blast skill guys without fighting Shelley, then Lava should know that Shelley can have his way with Wild skill players without any retribution from the opposition.

Its funny.. cause over Shelley's 10 year career he's been paid to FIGHT not play hockey.
But we'll just ignore that fact...
