If Suter is turning down 7mil, then he doesn't want to be there. He can't really think he's worth 7mil... - feelingkettle
Flame on!
It also tells me he doesn't want to win and just wants the money if that is the stance he takes when he gets to FA. He will be Jason Werth.

Its just a rumor. I guarantee you if he goes to UFA, the bidding war will go that high or possibly higher. - GuyLaDouche
Would not be surprised if he got higher than that, I'm just more surprised he'd turn down Nashville if that's what they're offering him. |

If Kimmo can get 6.33 on the open market, Suter can get 7. - bradleyc4
Good point. Cause I actually think Suter is the same type of player as Timmonen but better on the PP. |

Suter probably can now but in my opinion Kimmo Timonen was a much better player then Ryan Suter before Timonen signed with us. |

if Weber was on the table, other teams would offer more. Say Edmonton offered Hall, Eberle and our 2012 1st(almost certain to be top 3)? They won't, but just say they did. If you're Nashville, what do you do? - GuyLaDouche
The Oilers wouldnt do that. I get what you are saying.. but I could counter that and say.. what if the Flyers were willing to trade Cooter, Schenn, JvR and their next 4 1sts... They wont but just say they did. If youre Nashville, what do you do? |

if Suter goes to free agency, id say something like 29 other teams will want him. the bidding war will be ridiculous and you would hate what youd have to give him to keep him. in fact, if guys like JVR and Schenn turn out anything like the next "Forsberg and Sakic", it will make them unaffordable down the road. Rumor is Nashville has upped the offer to 7 mill per and he still hasnt accepted. - GuyLaDouche
Heard that as well. Heard Suter wants to be the big fish and my guess is that he wants closer to 8Mil a season. He will go into free agency knowing he can get whatever he wants and whatever team he wants to go to. This summer with him should be interesting |

If you're Nashville, you accept. - bradleyc4
Possibly..but what if Anaheim says "oh yeah, Getzlaf + Ryan + our 1st."?
Just pointing out that guys like Weber, a generational type dman, won't be had for maybes and potential. nashville will want some high assets, and they will get them. |

It's all about the future. You're just down playing what we have. - Schenn2shine
Weber is 26, not 34... Weber will be here for the future... As will Couturier, Giroux, Read, Simmonds, Voracek, and thier future draft picks... Trading 2 of 7 young player for another 1 young player that is in the position they need and already devepeoped is a Good trade. |

8mil? That's a ridiculous number for a defenseman. Only people who in my opinion who can come close to that are players like Crosby. |

Werth was a genius.. took the most money he could get, and with a team that is gonna be VERY VERY GOOD very very soon. |

Are you factoring in age and current playing ability, or do you like Suter more then Kimmo?
Maybe right now but when they traded for him I think Kimmo was better then Suter
He's looked great this season so far too. |

I hear that. I just get a little confused seeing people saying they won't trade unproven players for a bonafide Top 3 NHL dman. if you have a chance to get a guy like that, you give those players up. not even an issue. |

Not saying he couldn't get 7, but if that is what Nashville is offering him and he's turning it down, he probably doesn't want to be there as his first choice. - feelingkettle

I dont see teams giving up a ridiculous amount for Weber. I love Weber and think he is one of those defenseman who come around once and awhile but I rather build a team, than build around one guy who will chew up alot of money. Now if the price to trade for him wasnt ridiculous, I would be all for it. |

It wouldnt suprise me, How much would teams pay for Weber?? close to or around 8 mil? If suter considers himself to be as good a defender as Weber (without crushing everything in sight) he will put himself in that price bracket |

If he wants 8 million I would disagree with this a bit. He may get his 8 million, but it wont be from a team that wants to win now, because that 8 million will gut a lot of teams.
Players, I believe, understand this economic reality, and have been adjusting somewhat.
If Suter wants that kind of contract with that kind of cap hit I want no part of him.
