Shelley plays every night if you move JvR and Schenn and we're at a disadvantage at forward. You could go other route, such as Tyler Myers with the Sabers. The options are there if you open your eyes. I'm not against getting Weber, just not at that cost. - Schenn2shine
OMG what do you think Myers would cost you???? Gonna offer them Jagr and Coburn....
already have. a while back. everything since then has just been me debating. very well though.
Schenn + JVR will not get you Shea Weber. Thats the gist. - GuyLaDouche
I'm not sure why you're telling me this. I've been saying I wouldn't want to make the deal for both these players and now you're telling me both wouldn't get them anyway...
I understand full well why Bob is getting the start, but personally think it should be Bryz. He got stronger as the game went along against the wild... Would have really liked to see him right back in net again. - jak521
Why should Bryz be given the easier games? Could have beat the Wild with Jody Shelley in net. People keep saying Bob just gets the easier games. The Isles are playing very good recently so maybe Bryz should start or is somebody afraid he will embarrass himself and take a step back again. If Bob loses he will be the reason we did not win and if he wins again people will say he just gets the easy games. Just pointing out that both goalies are in a now win situation on HB and that sucks!
Niether do I. But as to both points, I think we would all be giddy if JVR put up Carter type numbers. Though that would still make him a bust I guess.
And Cooter and Voracek are both more playmakers than goal scorers. And part of me wonders if Voracek will be here next season. - MBFlyerfan
It depends on how you see and evaluate Carter.. Some people call him a 40 goal scorer.. I dont. I call him a 30's goal scorer. Why? Because he has put up 29, 46, 32, 36 in the past 4 years... and was on pace for less than any of those this year. He is a very good player, but nothing irreplaceable.
Coots is scoring at a 21 goal pace while playing on a 4th line... and averaging 9 minutes of 5v5 time a night...

should read a little bit more.. I clearly explain why I feel as though Bryz should have gotten the start tonight...

I don't know what to tell you other then the fact you're being short sited and now childish. I wouldn't make the deal. It would be a stupid deal to make, no matter the impact Weber would have. It took years for Chara to win a Cup but he's recently won a Cup due to the supporting cast and depth the Boston Bruins have. You want to give up our depth to get one player. Chara hasn't won four cups. He's won one.

If Bryz does play better when he gets in a rhythm, then it makes sense to start him Saturday and Sunday. I want him fresh off the Devils game for Sunday when they play the Broons.
Fatigue wont be a factor since they have the all farce break right after.
Ive been saying that since the beginning. - GuyLaDouche
What have you been saying? That we couldn't get Weber by trading JvR and Schenn, when I've against the deal either way? Are you agreeing with me or disagreeing with me?

The attendance has improved. But I'm not sure about the corporate angle. That's the real key. The Flyers get a boatload of cash from PECO, Tastykake, etc. They also get a nice bit of coin from Comcast Sports Net and TCN, not to mention WIP's rights. - Jsaquella
Perhaps the attendance isn't enough then? I remember there being an awful ton of Flyer fans at that game, and a lot of other road games but I think if they put together a better product than what they have now people will flow in.
I know the Flyers haven't always been a contender but the few years they weren't fans stayed loyal cuz (at least for me) they knew the team was dedicated to winning.
It's a shame cuz I know the Phillies needed like 15 years of empty stadium to learn this.

We've been trying to "Win now" for years. Shea Weber isn't going to instantly change this. Eric Lindros was one of the best and most feared players in the 90's and he didn't do it for us. When Chris Pronger won a Cup with the Ducks, he had a supporting cast to help him. Heck, one could debate whether or not Pronger was the number 1 Dman on that team because of Scott Neidermayer. Weber doesn't guarantee us anything. - Schenn2shine
Sure he does. He guarantees us that he'll have a career ending injury when the team needs him the most. Purple Velvet Monkey Boron Lock.

Its not about fatigue its about doing a few things..
You keep Bryz's confidence growing tonight.. you give Bob a good test on Saturday and give Bryz a great game to set his eyes on right before the break. Thats all.

Ive been both disagreeing with you as well as telling you its unrealistic.

I would of been fine with that plan also. I also have no problem with Bryz in net Sat and Sunday either. The Flyers need to give him some consecutive starts after the break. Time to ride the horse.
