Yea, its Jeff Carter... Where he puts up good numbers, but you just wish he would be more physical and play with more.....LECLAIR. - RooNosHockey
I pray to God that if JVR stays here, he becomes as good as Jeff Carter was here.

I probably would as well, because the draft this year is pretty deep, and having two first rounders could also allow them to move up and land a top prospect. - Jsaquella
Agreed. Unless the deal is totally outrageous I want the Flyers going after as many first rounders as they can |

John LeClair's don't grow on trees. I would be plenty happy with JVR scoring 30-40 goals a year and I was happy with Carter doing it. I'm happy with how the Carter trade worked out, but it often seems if you aren't a Crosby or LeClair, 30-40 goals isn't enough. - funmaster18
Philly wants it's players to work for it. They would rather see a guy try hard and get 25, then a guy that coasts by and gets 30... We want heart, and hard work, and we love players that give that to us, no matter how much they score...
Primeau, LeClair, Lappy, etc. etc. etc.... |

So you rather move coots on the wing. You wouldn't mind seeing him with g and jags but coots locks down who ever he's up against so wouldn't you want to keep him at center - griouxmvp2012
Why can't both be centers? |

There is no question Couturier has been great this season and most recently the past 5 games but I think Schenn and Couturier are being brought along just fine. Couturier will slump sooner or later and when it happens, put him on the 4th line again, while placing Schenn back to the 3rd line. I have no problem with both players going back and fourth so both can play center. |

As do I. Players who score 35-40 goals almost every season don't grow on trees. |

This is what I've learned today.
Rewind back to a year ago. The complaints were that Homer keeps trading away draft picks and prospects to bring in big names, leaving the cabinets empty. Homer's attitude was to "Win Now" and he almost succeed with this attitude but we didn't. So Homer tries a different approach. He trades away our biggest stars and talk piles draft picks and prospects but not just prospects but high touted prospects. Now fans want to trade away the prospects again to bring in Stars again. - Schenn2shine
My wife says the 80s are coming back into style too
(Maybe things like mullets and feathered hair never went out of style here in Kentucky )
(frank) is is game time yet? (frank). (frank). It is Thursday. Wife will want to watch "The Office" while I put the 'lil one to bed. Of course they play tonight. |

Couturier has been on the 4th line this whole time. |

LeClair also wasn't all that physical...he could park in front and create traffic, get deflections and bury rebounds, but he wasn't putting guys through walls or fighting often. |

I love a good argument as much as anyone and still and probably will never learn to shut up when my wife gets upset and rants on me.
In saying that I don't see Weber coming here.
Yeah it's fun to speculate but I don't think the flyers have any depth outside of who is already on the team.
The phantoms appear to be AHL career leaguers 3rd line fill ins or 4th liners.
If I am GM for a day I wait until the offseason and wait to see how bad the Suter bidding war is. If it's over the top then I say no thanks. (Mind you Carle still has to be signed, traded or let go).
I look for the team that needs a top 4 forward in the top 5 picks of the draft and see if JVR straight up would get that pick.
I look to trade Bob for a Dman even though I would rather keep him but with Bryz's humongously long contract I give the kid a chance to be a starter somewhere.
Not sure who would be available in free agency to take Bob's place but I try that for a backup.

I'd be satisfied with Knuble. Carter was (and always will be) soft in the crease. If he had more jam he might still be in Philly rather than a second rate hockey town with a third rate team. |

I don't see any players in Adirondack right now, that can replace Schenn and JVR. You never know if another Matt Read might be around, but I don't know who that is. - MJL
Yeah our pool of players has kinda run out... all of our "prospects" are playing in the NHL already... |

In case you're looking for some D men available this is a nice write up by the Canucks blogger;

The players that interests me most out of that list is Voynov. I wish the Flyers would get him. He looks like he's going to be a very good defense-man |

Both Couturier and Schenn have played wing before, and who knows, in a couple of years they may well not have that logjam. Maybe Briere moves to wing. It's not something that requires a lot of worry right now. |

In my opinion outside of health, JvR has stayed pretty close to Carter was thus far in his career. For me it isn't a matter of JvR working hard, it's a matter of whether or not he can stay healthy. JvR's first season he scored into the teens. His second season he became a 20 goal scorer. This season I would have expected the same but he got hurt. Jeff Carter didn't get 40 until his 4th season in the NHL. I don't see anything wrong with that. I believe JvR could be every bit as good as Carter, if not better. |

Physical doesnt mean hitting and fighting all the time. LeClair used his body to protect the puck, he sacrificed his body in front of the net. He powered through people along the boards. That was how Johnny did it, and man was it beautiful. |
