Quick, someone with a Pronger jersey, go into the Oilers Dressing Room and burn it.

Something has to end the curse.

I swear to god if Eberle gets hurt tonight, I'll hunt him down myself.

I saw one guy cross out a 4 and Prongers name and put Hall on the back. I thought that was funny.

Yes, take Grigorenko if we hypothetically pick 2nd and he is the BPA. Then we trade Paajarvi and our 2nd rounder for another 1st rounder and that teams 2nd rounder. Take a Dman then.

Boom.

But for real, I think drafting for positional need isn't smart. You don't take Cam Barker first overall when Oveckin and Malkin are on the board if you need D.

- ystoil

I agree on the drafting the best player available if going first or second overall. After the first couple picks, I think you should be taking whomever best fits your needs.

Personally I don't want the Oilers to draft 1st or 2nd. I'd like them to draft a 1/2 defenseman that can contribute in a year or two, if there are any that meet that criteria in the draft (I don't know if there are). After that skilled forwards with size and are willing to take the body would be my next choice.

I would argue either is better than Horc has ever been and just as responsible defensively. I would take either over Horc in a heartbeat. and Seguin looks like the real deal. Boston has center depth we can only dream about.

and why does everyone keep bringing up the number? I said ONE great center. I never said anything about needing two.

How many great centers do you think their are in the league?

I agree with not wanting the Oilers to draft 1st or 2nd. Actually 2nd would be okay since another centreman won't hurt (Grig). But this is the year to get our potential #1 Dman. Dumba is intriguing and Murray seems like the safe choice. Rielly, Reinhart, Trouba, and Pouliot as well. Lots of choices this year, It'd be nice if we could leave with two of them

why do you need to draft your number one dman...they take the longest to develop..i.e with the exception of maybe diughty ....but i mean look at past hyped d men..shenn, headman, petriangelo, ...hell even guys like duncan kieth and ur seeing it now with larsson...if we are going to be cup contenders in a few yrs why not go pick up a weber or a suter..?

Great? 6. Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Datsyuk, Sedin, Toews.

Really good? A whole bunch ranging from Thornton to Kesler to Seguin.

To be honest I don't know why people think that Centres are so much more important to the team compared to wingers. Just because Pittsburgh won a cup doesn't mean you need 3 unreal centres.
- Pilgor09

Because they have more responsibility and generally cover a larger area of the ice. A true number one centre with size is also harder to find.

We can do both hypothetically. Draft a highly touted dman and sign let's say Suter in the offseason. The odds of Suter wanting to come here are pretty low I'd imagine.

true enough, i just feel bad for that player if they do draft a d man....imagine the pressure on him to develope quickly lol after his rookie yr if hes not producing ppl will start the whole " fire the gm, trade the lousy bum" topic

We are not a desired destination for UFAs, making picking up Weber or Suter pretty unlikely.
