Ya most expectations are way out of whack.

But to be considerd great, I think you better be top 12-15ish at your position at your position and or consistantly produce at a 75+ point rate.

So a guy who had back to back years of 82 and 91 points and then was 76pts int 67 games was never great?

He wasn't great his first 2 years, which is when they won the cup.

I thought you were just talking about great centers in general? Also the year they won the cup he played like a great center in the playoffs.

I'm talking about how theirs no magical formula to win a cup, ie you can't win without great centers.

the proof is there. like I said, Getz may not have been your definition of 'great' his first couple years, but he was a beast the playoffs they won the cup.

The proof is there that you don't need great center(s), even if you don't want to give in on Getzlaf - Boston/NJ

NJ 95 is the only one that really falls in with that line of thinking. despite your obstinance, pretty much every cup winner has had one.

we'll agree to disagree I guess. had edmonton won in 2006, they actually would have been your best argument for.

And the fact that teams lacking great centers (Edmonton in 06/Flames in 04) can get within a game or two of the cup is a fantastic argument that you don't need great centers.

I mean it's pretty ridiculous to think that the difference between 1 or two wins is lining the best forward up 6 feet away, or putting a slightly better center in place of the one there.
