We have tinordi, bealeui, emelin, gorges and will buy any UFA you can think of.

Name someone on the kings DEFENSE who can or is as good as subbans OFFENSIVE and ( not as much ) defensive abilities.

Subban can handle the puck, rush the puck, skate fast and hard, hit, make a play, deke, do his back hand rush that no one seems to know how to stop, has a VERY LOUD attitude and can very well be a good captain on a team.

Id trade him for. richards and a first. also throw in plekanec.

You forgot games played. Both are really good young D-men who have had their struggles. Neither team is trading one for the other, let alone to a divisional rival.

Ek, the Sabres aren't trading anyone, getting a new gm or a new coach, they will live and die with this lineup. 14 yrs of nothing if it didn't change with a new owner loosing games sure as hell won't change it.

Myers also missed a significant amount of time this year due to a wrist injury. You gotta take that into account.

But choosing Subban over Myers is akin to choosing Redden over Chara...

Not exactly. Subban is more physical than Redden was, but it's not far off.
People are going to rip this apart because of where Redden is now, but think about it at the time they let Chara walk.

Hindsight is obviously 20/20, and we'd love to have that one back- but Redden was putting up 50 pt seasons when that decision was made, and was a cornerstone for our defense. Let's not forget that we got to the SCF the next year without Chara.

People paint it like it was a choice between a 7th string D-man and Zdeno Chara. Chara was on the way up, but definitely didn't show what he eventually would.... Redden was at his peak.

Not as easy of a decision at the time.
