I'd jump on that trade as well. Staal is ana elite player. pacioretty will never be that, Diaz is a role guy and unless we get top 2 this draft is fairly weak. - willey101
Weak?
Honestly? There's a lot of great picks coming up in this draft. Obviously there's two stand outs- but you have one of the better scouts in the league running the show- I'd put a lot of confidence in Timmins. Tons of good prospects in the top 10, which is where you're going to end up. |

You guys have some players that need to be signed in the offseason, you only have 4 d-men under contract for next season.
Gomez is making close to 7.5 for another 2 years, Pleks makes 5 for the next handful of years, Gionta at 5 for another few years, Cole makes 4.5 for another few years, Bourque makes close to 3.5 for another handful of years. All five of those guys have NTC's too, and pretty much all of them are under producing.
Granted you guys do get major cap relief if Markov stays injured. Do you guys think he's back any time soon? What's going on with him?
If he is projected to come back next season, that's close to another 6 million. Gorges is making almost 4 million next season.
That's 7 players taking up close to: 35.5 million. That's 55% of your cap in five guys, most of which have NTC in their contracts and are extended for multiple years, and 2 d-men. You trade Subban for Myers and you now have 41 million tied up in 8 people. I don't think Montreal wants to be in that position.
Then again I could be completely wrong. I do suck at math, admittedly. |

Man, did I ever stir up a hornet's nest by comparing Subban to Redden... I didn't mean the direct comparison, but if you had Myers and Subban on the same team and you had to give one of them up, I'm sorry, but I'm giving up Subban 10 out of 10 times. Myers is just too big and too good on his skates to ever give up on... His ceiling is way higher (no pun intended) than Subban's, in my opinion. |

Not going to get into a pissing match but:
Myers: 8 points, -8, avg. 22.50 TOI (2nd on team), 36 hits, 43 blocked shots
Subban: 18 points, +0, avg. 24:00 TOI (1st on team), 59 hits, 63 locked shots
Talk to me about overrated when Subban shows better stats in every single category. - willey101
Your boy also played 43 games so far for 3 goals and 15 assists. Myers has played 27 games and also has 3 goals but only 5 assists. Your guy has played 16 more games this year which equates to more points due to more assists. The totals would be alot closer im sure with totals in assists if myers played those 16 games but due to injuries his point totals are a bit lower. Your player is haveing a good year thus far nothing against him. This is only myers 2nd full year and he shows great skills for being this young. He will not be traded from buffalo I would put money on it considering he just signed a 7 year deal which doesnt even kick in until next year. This year he is only makeing 1 mill 300k in the final year of his deal. Your guy is makeing 800k per year I think both teams are getting off light. |

I know, I was just hypothetically responding to why that trade scenario could put Montreal in financial trouble, all other things aside. |

Maybe thats your problem, too many of your defenseman taking face offs.
Generally a guy taking 500+ draws a year would be considered a center.
PS I forgot Pomminville for the list of guys that take draws. And Matt Ellis.
Gomez will look good in a Buffalo uni. |

I'm an Ottawa fan, they usually win the face off and take possesion. |

Myers is NOT leaving Buffalo!!! Period.
If a deal with Montreal goes down it should smell more like
Derek Roy for Brian Gionta or P.K. Subban, Erik Cole would be a great steal for Buffalo and I'd LOVE to see the Oswego native come to town and reunite with Kevyn Adams who played with him in Carolina but the reality is he has turned out to be one of the top UFA signings of the off season and is on pace for 30 goals. If Buffalo is smart they package up some salary and hope a 3way deal yields the greatest return.
If nothing happens in Buffalo, FAIL FOR NAIL campaign starts gaining steam. |

I love that this has turned into a Myers and Subban thread, where does it even come from?
Buf and mtl are not making a trade of any kind, when was the last time it happened? teams don't trade within their own division, especially significant players, especially when they're next to each other in the standings. |
