Z has played in the top 9? - Schenn2shine
Yep. For a couple games here and there. As much if not more than Sestito has. |

Let's not forget Shelley was suspended in the pre season as well. - Schenn2shine
I'm talking about doing stuff that will get penalized in the game. Suspensions hurt less than handing a team a 9 minute PP, like Sestito did while he was with the Phantoms and decided to pummel a guy from the bench |

how did your daughter do at the game? - Marc D
She did well. Gave a big "whoa" when she saw the ice. Sleeping on Mommy's lap in the 3rd. |

I really am wondering if the Habs would take Lilja for Gill straight up. |

Not if they have a firesale. They'll want kids/picks. |

Lilja is a depth Dman with another year on his contract with a good hit. Why not? Gill is a UFA who they haven't even talked to about re-signing. |

If they're trying to rebuild, it makes no sense to trade Gill for Lilja. Get a pick for him, or a half decent prospect and then sign a solid vet as a free agent. |

Man, CBS sports might be worse than the local Flyers beat guys.
A student blog at Penn State reported that Joe Paterno had passed away, citing e-mails sent to players. CBS sports flat out STOLE the report, giving ZERO credit to the student site (@OnwardState is their twitter handle).
Well, as soon as the Paterno family declared the reports as being not true, the assclowns at CBS Sports threw the student website under the bus

No mention of @OnwardState when CBS "broke" news, but full blame on them when the report is denied. |

Embarrassing. He's obviously gravely ill, it's pathetic people are so desperate to break a story.

I don't think they need to re-build. They have young minor league players who come up and down at will. I already feel that Plekanec, Subban and Price are pretty good building blocks. They just went in the wrong direction by trading for Gomez and signing Gionta. I don't know what they were thinking with Markov. I don't see how they can rebuild. |

It just pissed me off that the stole the report from the student site, without crediting them, and then when the worm turned, they lumped the entire thing on them.

Just finished watching the shootout between the Panthers and Jets. A lot of sweet moves. You like the shootout to be honest, it entertains me. I actually think it should be best out of 5, not 3. This way you include more of your team and the excitement builds. Heck, you can see a come from behind win if someone went out 2 nothing at first. |

No question about it. I think I like the days better when you had to find out about news by reading the newspaper the following day. Sometimes the way social media is used is sickening. |

Well, at the very least they can re-tool.
Why trade Gill for Lilja? You can probably get a decent pick/prospect for Gill, so why trade him for another vet, who isn't as steady?
You can always find a Lilja, or Sean O'Donnell or similar guy in FA every summer. If I'm trading Gill, I'm getting a building block for the future. Not a 7th defenseman who is at the end of his career. |

The rush to report is bothersome. I'm more pissed about the complete shirking of responsibility. CBS is scum. |

The first to report something that is imminent is what confuses me. Is there really a difference if Paterno dies at 9:26, or 10:37? Unreal.
And CBS ripping off a report, then shirking responsibility when it turns out to be false is spineless. |

Why do the Habs trade Spacek for Kaberle? Why do the Habs re-sign Markov to the money they did (If at all) when he can't get healthy enough to get himself into a game...ever? Why to the Habs refuse to re-sign their Captain of a decade (Koivu is still a decent player for his price tag) to take on a Gomez's contract, who wasn't earning it even before they grabbed him.
I guess it just never hurts to ask. |

No, it doesn't hurt to ask.
I think the Kaberle trade was a desperate attempt to shake things up. I have ZERO idea what was behind Markov. And if you can explain taking on Gomez's contract, let alone trading Higgins and McDonagh to do so...well, you are better than me.
Still, if the Flyers could get more for Lilja than they did for Stefan Legein, I;d be surprised. Happily surprised |

Bob Gainey was an awesome player and as a GM he managed to bring a Cup to Dallas but was he really that good a GM? A lot of stupid moves. I know Gainey is long removed as GM and didn't make the Kaberle deal, I'm just pointing out that I didn't think he was that good. Then again the Habs haven't gotten much better since him. |

He did a much better job building off what Clarke left him in Minnesota/Dallas than he did in Montreal.
He wasn't bad in Montreal, though, just seemed to ignore things that brought him success in Dallas. |
