This team is just a couple of players away. But OMG can we dump Pandolfo and Rolston already, they have no jump at all. Rolston skates in circles cause he just can't keep up anymore.
Pandolfo's penalty at the end of the second was HORRIBLE, he is a mile from the play, and just drops the stick right into Staals skates with 3 seconds on the clock in the neutral zone! I know maybe the refs can say no chance to effect the game, sure, but the question remains why have your stick there at all? Have a clue, took the Isles half the period to get going after that, when they had dominated the second. I don't want to mortage the future, but a real center is needed here for the second line, Nilsson is a 3rd line center, and frankly Bails has become very good on the PK and would be serviceable as a 4th line C. So No More Reasoner, Rolston, Pandlofo and while we are at it Staios also. - Sec111
I agree Sec111. Isles are playing better but there are more moves to be made. Snow has got to take action. Help this team have a real shot at the playoffs. Snow needs to be aggresive. Dump Rolston, Pandolfo, and Staios already. |

2 goals and an OT game winner with a few seconds left over the defending stanley cup champs with first place in the east on the line..
Or 2 goals an OT game winner over the bottom team in the east by the team just above them in the standings.. Sorry I'm going to go with the Ranger story too.
As an Isles fan I get what your saying but you do have to be realistic. That was a huge game. Ours was only huge for us. - MikeyBiggs
I'm sorry but a 12 game point streak supersedes an OT winner. If Tavares was on a winning team he'd get his due. How does having points in 12 straight games not make you a top 3 star in the NHL? Am I missing something here???? |

Funny cause JT wasn't even in the top three players of the week. Such a joke. - kindlyrick
Had we traded him or his rites to Toronto or NY. JT would be the #1 STAR every week! Isles would be Pi$$ed on even more and everyone in the NHL world would be happy.
We should just be happy & content that we got him. He loves it here on LI and to Hell with everyone else. Ya gotta know it irritates everyone that JT is an Islander and on the verge of becoming an elite player. Not only an Islander but a Happy and productive player who has no complaints about his situation.
Talk about a perfect marriage. Screw everyone else! |

I guess my point WAS that no matter what we do, and on a 12 game point streak that is the longest in the NHL this season, is still a big deal. The bigger story is the Rags beating the Bruins..that I agree with. The 3 stars of the night is an individual honor.....I'm not here to split hairs...anything we do is always bigger to us, I 100% agree with you there. In the end my point is I wish when we havea story on Long Island that is positive they would cover it the same way they cover the other crap we do. |

I get you and agree on both counts. The streak and the fact that they only seem to broadcast the crap. I was just giving the devils advocate and saying that this time there may have been bigger stories. I would hope he will be recognized at the end of the month for the streak. If not then by all means we should all be complaining. |

and?
We have this guy named Malkin who is probably going to win the Hart. - nhindian
JT is getting better every game. His upside is incredible. SO yes I would take him over Malkin. JT makes players around him stars. Look at Matt Moulson, PA and now Okposo. |

Focus on what's in front of them 1st. They need to pass I think 4 teams to get to a playoff spot, not including the 3 teams right behind them only behind a point or 2.
Right now, the eastern conference is broken into 3 tiers..
64-60 points with the Rangers, Boston, Philly and Ottawa.
56-50 points with Pittsburgh, Florida, NJ, Washington, Toronto and Winnipeg
And then you have the bottom tier which the Isles still occupy.
45-43 points with Montreal, Islanders, Tampa, Buffalo and Carolina.
I'm not being negative here, lets just stop jumping the gun and setting ourselves up for heartbreak. Right now lets look to take the bottom tier lead, if they can do that then we can worry about the next team ahead of them, not 4 ahead. |

Guys, after last night's game I'm feeling really good. If we keep this play up through February, you may see us make a splash at the deadline.
John Tavares is an animal. The guy is an absolute superstar. Unfortunately, I think we could do better than Moulson on his wing. It's great the Moulson is on his way to another 30-40 goal season. The problem is, he scores on either rebounds/passes and rarely sets up Tavares and Okposo.
If we had a play-making left wing that was able to put the puck in the net that first line would be unreal. |

I'm just saying, if we're in the mix for the playoffs at that time, we saw Snow go get Smyth. We haven't been in that position since. I think its a posibility. - NYIDRIVE4FIVE
Not laughing at you bud, just laughing at Wang and his cheapness. Every other team in this league makes trades small or big to improve their team and we do nothing day after day month after month year after year. I've accepted the fact this team will never improve through a trade until 2015 and beyond. |

Twice I've seen Islander players pass to a linesman at the point. Friggin awful black uniforms. - Charlie21
The black unis are growing on me. I don't mind them at all. Good game by the boys. Bad first, great rest of the game. JT = superstar, regardless of what some mindless, statistical idiot from ESPN says. |

Tavares is just incredible. Ties it and wins it. I'm surprised nino did not score. It's time to swap him with rolston. And why does cappy feel the need to handicap our second pp unit with rolston. I would lve to hear why he thinks he a better option than harmonic.
Let's keep It rolling now. |

Whats with all these Nashville and Toronto fans on the main blog saying Tavares is about to be traded? Are they high, delusional or just dreaming? |

Pandolfo is actually a good 4th liner. Not sure what game u watching but bailey outplaying Frans. Bailey is becoming that 2 centre we wanted him to be. He need nino or ullstrom back on his wing. |

I agree. We shouldn't have to be in the playoff mix to make an obvious upgrade to the team. That's how you become a playoff team.
Unfortunately as Isles fans, you have to accept it.
Either way, I'm feeling really good about Mr. Marginally Talented Tavares and co. |

I really like Bailey's defensive play recently. His goal against Philly showed his offensive upside. The key for him now is showing it consistently. |

Great is too strong a word. Snow needs to make a deal or two to help this team try to make the playoffs this year. He also needs to have a very strong offseason before I would even call him a good GM. - ses111
Don't hold your breath, he won't back up his words. Bet on it. They are not making the playoffs. |

Call me a homer but I'd take him over just about anyone, he is incredible and is getting better. It is so much fun to watch this kid develop. He is going to be a super star in this league and in my opinion Malkin's name should'nt even be mentioned in the same sentence. |
