Not really understanding why Anaheim extended Beauchemin for three more years at $3.5M. His play has been inconsistent and the extension makes him a less desirable trade target for other teams -- he was more desirable as rental, IMO.

maybe anaheim thinks they can turn it around next year? or maybe he just wants to finish his career out there

If he wanted to finish his career there you'd think ANH could have saved some money. That's a lot of scratch for a player of his caliber. - Manitobakid
hmm has he really fell of the face of the earth? anaheim is bad this year but it's not really his fault in the past he's been a solid 2nd pair dman
The problem is i dont think players know they have concussions half the time. I dont think you know you dont feel right after a big concussion. I had a solid concussion when i played, it wasnt a huge it that did it, but i continued to play (and playerd well i was told) and it was only noticed when my linemate snapped at me cuz i asked him what the next line was lik 5 times in a row later in the game. I dont remember the hit, half of what i did after the hit, and dont remember being taken to the hospital. yet i had no idea i didnt feel right at the time. i think it goes beyond being stubborn to come out of the game, i think knowledge and awareness is a big thing too, but not sure how that's fixed. - dillpx183
No question that sometimes the symptoms don't present themselves right away.
I'll give you my take on the deal you proposed. With Carle being a UFA after the Season, if Nashville would do that deal, then they would have two top defenseman that they could lose to Free Agency. And the deal could turn into just JVR and a 1st for Weber. Nashville can get a much, much better deal then that for Weber.

Hard shoulder pads still contribute to the jarring effect leading to some of these concussions - Just5
They are smaller and covered with some layer of foam padding now versus the past. But there is still consideration of going further. They are no longer the large hard plastic ones.
While I could not stand the way Richards carried himself, I always agreed with him when he would get pissed at the Philly media for repeatedly asking the same stuff over and over again. I know these clowns have a job to do, but let it rest at some point.
They are doing the same thing with Bryz, and it's a damn shame because it's just getting a player who is already frustrated, more frustrated. Again, let it rest at some point. Let it work itself out, then come back and re-visit it. Is it seriously necessary to ask the same questions about his struggles after every single game? No.
I am also SO SICK of all the media outlets in Philly pulling the "not talking to us is very disrespectful to the fans." That is the biggest load of crap and the fans do not feel disrespected when a player has a bad game and doesn't want to talk to the media. 99% of the time... we don't even actually want to hear them talk after having a bad game.

More importantly, and I guess Briere is the only one who can answer this. But when did he start feeling poorly? During the game, in the first period, when? Because if he knew he wasn't right, and continued to play, without telling the trainers, then that's a big deal. Because taking more hits after sustaining a concussion seems to make things worse. - MJL
Someone who has been concussed may experience poor judgement as a symptom. Or may not recognize the symptoms because he's cognitively impaired. There may be no blame to place here.

Very aware of that. I wasn't looking to blame anyone. Just stating that a player who sustains a concussion, whether he knows it or not, and continues to take hits can have a cumulative effect and make matters worse. That's an issue to be concerned with. And players have been known to withhold that from the team, trainers, doctors, etc.
