I think Hemsky for Gleason would be fair value.

2nd pairing defenseman for a top line winger.

Maybe Hemsky+PRV for Gleason+Murphy.

Playoff teams wont be trading top 4 defenseman though.

And lottery teams like Carolina wouldn't be willing to trade there young defenseman.

Maybe going after a Marc Methot, or maybe someone like Kyle Quincey.

Do we really need more picks/prospects? I don't think waiting another 3 years for any of those guys to crack the NHL would help anything.

Need to go after a young proven NHL defenseman. Which is nearly impossible to do.

Del Zotto, Mcdonaugh, Subban, Gunnerson, Demers, Niskanen, Blum, Voynov, and a couple more could probably be had for the right price.

What good is trading Hemsky for a guy that is going to walk? Sure if Gleason signs it's a good move, but it's a huge (frank)ing risk and not one we can afford to make.

I rather take the picks and make a trade like TO did at the draft for Liles.
