On a different note, the got 3 points on back to back weekend matinee games, which is pretty good for the Flyers. I'd like the stigma of "lousy afternoon game team" to start falling by the wayside. |

Not going anywhere, NMC. - stveshdy
So in other words, we are going to have to hire someone to Tonya Harding his rear in about 4-5 years to get that LTIR. |

I gotta give Sestito credit.
Not sure he can play like that every game but if he could I would think the Flyers could find a spot for him on the 4th line. - Buts16

It goes hand in hand.
Martin Brodeur has won exactly one playoff series since the Devils lost Niedermayer, Stevens and Daneyko. Thomas plays behind a good defensive team and Chara.
That said, I think that a lot of things snowballed on Bryzgalov this year. He's had bad luck, and been victimized by poor play. In turn that seems to have affected his confidence and has his fundamentals thrown off.
He seems indecisive at times and he's not playing at the top of his crease. That leaves him more prone to allowing deflection goals. He seems to be cheating, as if he's expecting a deflection or breakdown.
He has to work hard to get his fundamentals straight and his confidence back. - Jsaquella
Thomas was a journeyman goalie before coming to Boston so the argument can be made that a good defense is as (or more) important than a HOF goalie. Keeping the other team from having the high percentage scoring opportunity is more important than making the highlight reel save. A good defense can make an average goaltender great.
Bryz can absolutely get back to where he was with Phoenix if the Flyers team defense improves to a similar level as well. |

the standard digital feeds are (frank)ing awful. do you notice a big difference between the 120 and 240 refresh rate? - hammarby31
Actually yes I do. Especially when side by side. The picture flows better.
As standalone I do NOT really see the difference. But when I had them together you really could see the difference in sharpness.
But the main thing is the flow of the motion. Much more fluid.

that's true, but thomas wasn't exactly a hack in college either. he helped UVM get to the frozen four -losing in double OT on what i still say was a missed hand pass before the goal - and has some goaltending records/honors. he was good then. for whatever reason, it took him a long time to find his way permanently to the nhl. i do agree that a good d is necessary - a goalie can only do so much without it. |

I think the issue is team defense, not our defenseman. I think the forwards arent doing enough defensively. |

i've got 3 120's...and they're all nice, but the next replacement will be a 240. i do notice a bit of choppiness on the puck when it's dumped out in an icing situation. completely unacceptable. |

I think it's both. Forwards need to help out more in our own end and our defenseman need to make better decisions with the puck. |

For PLind, who thought the Flyers are the only team with a lot of concussions:
DanielBriere makes 6 #Flyers out w/concussions;#Penguins have 9 players in this #concussionepidemic. Game too fast or is it lack of respect? (via @heylandsberg) |

They've been playing terrible defense in the 3rd for a while now in my eyes. That tells me guys are playing more minutes than they need to be. So yeah, I still think they need to add another minute-eating defenseman back there. |
