I keep reading this quote from Thomas,
"I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.
Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.
This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT"
and I still don't get why he couldn't go to the White House? Edit Sorry, don't want to get into a political argument. Just don't get his reasoning. - Dkos
I don't mean to start a political debate either. I saw the WH picture on NHL.com and saw Kaberle's red cheeked mug in it. Wow, just stay home dude. Did he even play in the finals?
As for Thomas, I really don't have a problem with it. IMO, he's protesting the government as a whole, no matter the party. At least that's what he's saying. It's the same as boycotting going to McDonalds because you don't like the food they put out. At least to me it is. |

Please post a photo of the list of people ripping Leighton then and then one of those ripping Bryz now. - Flyskippy
I didn't say they were ripping Leighton then. They were all clamoring for him to be crowned the franchise goalie. |

I don't know if he is a tea party guy or not but if so, he needs to point a lot of criticism at his own then. |

I don't know him personally, but have read that he is a big believer in the Tea Party stuff.
Someone mentioned that he even has Tea Party slogans on his goalie mask. |

Because he didnt want to. Simple as that. If someone gave you free tickets to the spice girls does it mean you have to go? - jak521
Is my entire team going and is it a tradition for Professional American sports teams to be honored buy the Spice Girls? Will I be embarassing my team, league and country if I don't go? I my opinion being honored by the Spice Girls for winning the Cup would be just about as political a statement as being honored by the Prez. It's not a political thing. It's just a nice gesture that has become a tradition in American sports. |

I thought he was a Libertarian (sp?). I don't have a problem with him having an opinion. But come on, it's just a little ceremony...Obama's not going to make him hand out welfare checks to poor people. |

I would hope he becomes like a Toews, but I see Schenn more like Toews. I do expect him to be better then Brindy. At the end Brindy became more of a defensive player, and I see Couturier becoming offensively skilled. - RooNosHockey
Brindy was always a solid 2 way player, and was a very good offensive player in his entire career. He scored 452 goals, and 732 assists for 1,184 points in his career. And was still putting up points until his final season when he was pretty much done. 2 time Selke winner, and Cup Champion. He may be a Hall of Famer. |

If Thomas wants to decline an invitation to meet the President he has every right too, and I completely agree with him. He has every right to show his displeasure with how the government operates by not attending a function. |

So this is your soap box for the day. Not agrueing over Brindy's merrits, I'm just saying I hope and except Couturier to be a better offensive player then Brindy. |

I don't care what he did, it is his decision.
But if it was me, I would have taken the opportunity to meet the President, and tell him what I didn't like about the government. Once in a lifetime opportunity to do so.

I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to boycott. Just think it's childish. How not going is going to change the government is beyond me. I bet he was the kid who would take his ball and go home when he didn't get his way. |

I think Brind'Amour's overall game is a lofty goal for Couturier. And have to be careful to not underestimate how good Brind'Amour was offensively. |

Might explain why he's so good at taking goals away from opposing players. |
